Hello Folks.

I was in the process of installing a beautiful Chrome hitch on my Standard. One that mounts on the outside of the fender ...
and continues up the outside of the fender using the same installation points as the saddle bag assemblies.
It is visible and beautiful!  Wink

Well, suddenly, I find myself "distracted" by this beautiful '99 I/S that "showed up" in my garage earlier this past week!
WTF! She has now become the prime choice for my upcoming cross-country trek. laugh coolsmiley

So I NOW need an I/S  hitch for mt "Piggy-Back" trailer. However, it looks as if the set up on my standard is a plain mismatched for the I/S model. Undecided tickedoff Roll Eyes

Frankly, I just want to get by with an used I/S hitch; strong enough to tow my mother in law on my wheel barrel.  2funny
A rusty one that I can paint Black would do. Maybe a hidden hitch under the fender would be best??  ???

Fire away! Any suggestions or leads are welcome.  cooldude

If you rather  PM me, please do so. Wink

the hitches are the same, it would just be a shame to hide all that chrome behind the bags.

I have the Hitch Doc on my Interstate.

The Hitch Doc isn't cheap but the quality is definitely there.

It is the receiver type with the removable hitch.

When the hitch isn't on you can hardly tell that it is there.

It sounds like the one that you described.

I have the bags off right now, I can take some more pics for you before I put them back on if you'd like.

Just let me know what you would like to see.

3fan4life;
Please do post or PM me as many pics as possible.  Smiley
By looking at the photo of the Black I/S, it looks the same as the one I am installing on my Standard. ???  Just like the one in the link below. Lips Sealed

CURRENT EBAY PHOTO:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Valkyrie-Motorcycle-Trailer-Hitch-/110921673572?hash=item19d3726b64&item=110921673572&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

I'd like to study photos of your hitch w/o the saddlebags.  I'd like to see how you installed it; "sandwiched with the Trunk's hardware (?)."
Did you have to get longer bolts? Roll Eyes

Finally, any tips on wiring the Lady I/S... like, which wiring harness do you recommend to juice up my "Piggy Back?"

Thanks cooldude

The E Bay one is a Hitch Doc but it isn't the receiver style.

I will take some PICS for you when I get home from work today.

I followed the wiring directions in ShopTalk:

http://www.herberts.org/wayne/valk/trailerlights.htm

And I do HIGHLY recommend using the Hoppy Controller, as it isolates the trailer wiring.

I did the quick drop conversion for the bags when I installed the hitch.

This solved the bolt problem and made it easier for me to get the bags off when I need to.

The only problem I encountered was that after installing the hitch my bag rails wouldn't go back on.
