Rear rotor - How long?

How long should the rear rotor last under normal conditions? I have 50k on mine and I do feel a slight ridge around the outer edge.

I got 100K out of the rear rotor {fronts too} before I replaced them, '97 Tourer. They weren't pretty and maybe I could have gotten a few more miles out of them but I was in a renew at 100K mindset at that time.
I have heard of others going longer that that as well.

Most or all rotors will develop a slight ridge around the outside edge (metallurgy, with brake pad pressure pushing it up) for some time before they reach end of life (minimum thickness). Can make putting calipers with new pads back on over the rotors difficult/tricky. Mine are still within limits, but definitely have ridges.

I have 165K on both front and rear rotors. The fronts are due replacement now and will do it in the next few weeks. The rear has a fair groove but will be good probably another 40K. I do find that the rear brake is getting more use because the car tire adds so much more traction in all aspects that the rear brake is actually useful across a much broader range of braking situations.

You should easily get another 50K out of it...unless you are a "back braker" This is a dangerous habbit of relying on the back as the primary brake and the fronts as a back up.
