here's the deal i have a 2000 I/S won't start in gear with clutch in kickstand up . i checked the clutch switch it activates and is a good switch (tested). so if i kill it in and intersection you half to find neutral to restart  Sad.  so what do i check next?

Had the same problem and found the wire connecting the safety switch at the clutch lever unplugged. Plugged it back in and all was ok. Seemed too simple but sometimes simple works.

I had same problem..replaced the bushing in the clutch lever.. The bushing is oem part number..22885-MB0-006. Costs about 12 dollars, fits all valks. Hopefully this helps.

It sounds like you've even run an ohm check on your clutch switch.  That rules out that switch.

Sidestand switch is the only other thing that cares whether you're in neutral or not.  Do the same thing there, and you'll probably find your culprit.

I'm glad it was so simple.
That's actually a nice little reminder to check those bolts.  I'd hate to have the kickstand fail on me one day.
