A couple from England may have nabbed the biggest fish ever caught in North America when they reeled in a 12-foot white sturgeon weighing 1,100 pounds.
 
Michael Snell, 65, and his wife, Margaret, both of Salisbury, England, caught the giant fish during a trip to Chilliwack, British Columbia in Canada earlier this week.
 
Mrs Snell had to hold on to her husband during the hour-and-a-half hour long battle to bring the mammoth sea creature to shore.

what a whopper.

I had a sturgeon (guessing 50 lbs.) on walleye fishing in the WI river once for about 25 seconds with 6 lb. test light action rod until he took off and darn near spooled me  before he snapped my line.  By the time I started the motor to go after him, my line broke.  Best 25 seconds of my fishing days.  Next time will be 8-10 lb. test so I might have a fighting chance?

Heck of a fish !  We caught a 905# Blue Fin a number of years ago[sold it to the Japanese].. Now its just tarpon and sharks during the winter,, Lakers and Walleye during the summer,, but,, I'm just as happy catching anything including a little ole Perch or Snapper..  I just wanna catch fish..
