The marines have signed a new contract for an old pistol.

And what a good looking new variant it is.

I've always felt the Beretta for our military was a big mistake.. I'm not impressed with that cartridge or the gun..

As a Federal firearms instructor, I was extremely agitated when they dropped the 1911 and went to the Beretta.  My biggest complaint at that time and still is, why can't the US find an american made weapon.  Why did we have to sign off on a Italian gunmaker. Two reasons we dropped the 1911 (1)  women couldn't handle the 1911 (2)  politicians took payoffs to go to that weapon. IMO  Regardless, its good to see that the military is beginning to see the error in their ways.  Linedog

I love shooting the 45ACP. The recoil is enough to be fun but not painful like the 357 can be after a while.

Shooting it from a 1911 feels like I'm holding history in my hand even though I don't own a single stack 1911, yet. Smiley

I was shooting with Andy the other day, I had the 1911 and he had his Hi-Power in 9mm. The 45 was throwing huge chunks of dirt into the air behind the target. He looked over at me and said "what the hell, are you shooting mortars?" Man, you gotta love that. Grin

As far as reloading, 45ACP brass lasts forever but even when you cast your own bullets, that's a big chunk of lead and it depletes your wheel weight stocks quickly. Hence I'm shooting 22LR more than I used to.
