Is this the tube that's flaired at one end? The service manual doesn't show it as being flaired and doesn't mention it all, just shows it in the diagram. Could someone give me some guidance as to how it's reinstalled as I don't remember how I removed it.  Cry

Just a little clarification of my question.

The parts diagram shows the flaired end going into the final drive. I can't see the happening. The other way around makes more sense, i.e. flaired end sticking out of the final drive.

The service manual also shows the universal dust boot going on backwards

Never mind, I found the answer in the Goldwing service manual. Flaired end is outside the final drive.

One thing I've learned is if you try to do repairs by the book you'll drive yourself insane. The service manual is riddled with inaccuracies and omissions. Beware.  Sad

Yes sir, you're correct. My problem was I had already sealed the final drive and I wasn't sure if it went flaired in to the inside and was held in that way. I panicked at the thought of having to open up the final drive again.

no need to double check......if the wheel fit and drive shaft went in and the bike rides, YOU COULD NOT HAVE HAD ANY OF THOSE PARTS WRONG  any of them wrong and it would have been impossible to button it up and even if you could it wouldnt work.........relax
