Just curious, as I've never seen this on my previous bikes...the front wheel on my Valk has several rectangular openings, showing the hollow interior of the wheel.  Does anyone know the purpose for these?  Thanks...(yes, I've been spending a lot of time examining my new bike...)

Reduction in unsprung weight. If the wheel was heavier, ride quality would be harsher.

if the wheels are cast (I think they are), the holes may be for a way to get the sand (or similar) out after the casting process is complete.
Doesn't really matter-they do look cool.
