The Supertrapp exhaust headers on my Valk are 7 years old. The bike has always been garaged and perfectly maintained here in Colorado.

Upon inspection of the headers I found rust at each flange, as well as rust where all three pipes come into one. At the cost of these pipes I assumed Supertrapp would stand by their product. However when I called them they simply stated that their warranty period was 1 year. I have owned other bikes twice as long and put twice as many miles on them than this Valk, and have never seen rust on and exhaust pipe. I will obviously have to change exhaust systems soon, and am not planning on going back to Supertrapp.

At $1,400.00 for the system should I expect the headers to last my lifetime, not 7 years? Anyone else had issues with Supertrapp?

Take the headers off and carry them to your nearest Powder Coating place.

Have them powder coated and then you can ride instead of worrying about a tad bit of rust.

Powder coating won't be an option. It wouldn't fit the bike.

Powder coating can be done in a silver color that is close to a chrome look.  At least go and talk to your local powdercoat shop.  I don't blame you for being p.o.ed about the rust.  They are using a S/S alloy that works well with heat and does not become brittle, but is not as rust resistant.  It's a tradeoff that they should explain in their description.  Sounds like they need to work on their customer service.

@ dreamchaser - I didn't know this, and I now like the option. Thank you, I will look into it.

most Corrosion Resistant Steels (CRES) aka stainless steel have different % of iron in them. this is the rust u see. a good metal polish will bring them back to org look.
