I bought a set of stacks at Inzane , are there any draw backs to having them on my bike ? I noticed they leave the diaphram cover exposed . Any thoughts ?

They shouldn't leave anything exposed. They are installed on top of the chrome cover.

mine go on top of the black diaphram cover that is below the stock chrome covers and the chrome stock covers are no longer used unless you bought the one that are just fake air cleaners that you just stick on with 2 sided tape

also if you dont shim or raise the front of the gas tank 1/2 inch the center stack on the right side of the tank will come in contact and make a dent and chip the paint bigbf makes a shim that works best

I just installed a set of the new stacks from Aeromach and I had to do quite a bit of work with a dremel tool to get the choke slides to clear them and work properly. Also had to shim the front of the tank as already stated here to provide clearance. They look great when the job is done, but they don't just bolt on without some additional work.

They install over the black diaphram cover (chrome ones come off), and I used some window screen from the hardware store in the center to help hide the black cover, makes it look like they are part of the stack.

The original instructions recommended bending the choke linkages slightly to clear the stacks. Grinding will work but bending slightly works as well.

They are really good at filling up with Water, Dirt, Rain, Bugs, etc. Then dribbling the all previous items onto your bike and engine.

I had to bend the linkage slightly as well but found that the choke slide still rubbed on the bottom lip of  the velocity stack. I have to take another look as I installed the screens at the bottom of the stack, just over the diaphragm. I'm thinking the screens are lifting the stack slightly which is causing the additional contact with the underside of the chock linkage. Anybody else have this issue?

I didn't do screens but did do a perforated fiberboard pcb with self flashing amber and red led's and just bent the linkage. The perforated pcb allows for drainage. I sealed up the electrical wires on the pcb with hot glue (of all things). It's been fine for three years now.

I like that.
Very different.
But Id bet red flashing would get you in trouble down here.
I had on another bike red front lens covers for a bit.
State and County boys didnt care as long as there was no blue.
1 local yokel had a few words to say.
I changed back to amber to get him off my back.

I only use them in parking lots and light parades. Otherwise, I'm sure they'd get me pulled.

Finally got around to taking another look at my stacks. Just as JC did, I had to use a Dremel Tool to notch out the bottom mount of the stack. The choke slides are forced to ride up over the bottom mounting flange (right where the bottom screw is) and don't work unless you loosen off the choke slide screws. When you do this the choke slides lift up and clear the  stacks but barely make contact with the carb pins. After notching out the area on either side of the bottom screw so that it looked like the OEM cover the choke slide worked perfectly, even without bending the upper flanges.

Why Aeromach didn't make the bottom mounting flange exactly like the OEM covers is beyond me. There's nothing I hate more than an aftermarket part designed specifically for the bike not working right out of the box.

Just came across something very interesting. Was looking on BigF's website at the section on velocity stacks and noted that the Aeromach and Add On stacks he was comparing both had notches for the choke slides on either side of the bottom screw mount location. The Aeromach velocity stacks I bought did not have these sections notched out. The bottom mounting flange was the same height all the way round the base of the stack. This would explain why my stacks didn't fit properly without modification. Anybody know why there is a difference?

i have the ones made by add on and they required no grinding or altering at all just removing the choke linkage to install

I suspect that I may have gotten ahold of some counterfeit stacks, if there is such a thing. Sent an email to Aeromach to see if they ever made a run where the bottom holes where not notched out. Will see if they reply.

Stacks will work, with modification, and look good once installed. Unless you know where to look, no one will be able to tell the difference. Thought about buying another set but these things are ridiculously expensive. Will have to make do I guess.

I bought my stacks from the classified so I don't know what brand they are. They required no modifications at all to the stacks. I did do the mod that I posted in the following link........
