Oklahoma city channel 9 news calling for high of ((113*)) today. At that temp you could crap fire and save the matches.  Are we headed for another dust bowl ? At these temps if you go down on pavement you are going to fry,worse if knocked out. Ride safe, cover all flesh that you can. |

Global warming is no joke.I'm no expert by any means but at 70 yrs old I will not be around to see what happens and don't really want to be.It dosen't look good and can be very bad for the future generations.With everybody blaming each other I don't see the world cooperating on a fix .Over population is the real problem.Canada will be the breadbasket of north america and the s.west will be like the middle east deserts.

Wow, never seen 113 degrees and don't want to ever. I know humidity is a huge factor as well. I don't see all of my grass making it this year and my garden is pretty much non-existent even with watering which I gave up on most plants. Can't even get green beans to bud out and gave up last week watering every other day since no significant rainfall all summer long really.
One thing I have noticed unlike other years is the wasps are out in full force trying to get out of the heat making nests in our eastrophes, window shutters, and even our kids basketball hoop support in the middle. I think almost all of the U.S.A. needs rain and cooler temps. Our central air electric bill is thru the roof near 200 bucks per month, OUCH!
I don't ride very far in 100+ degree temps since I don't find it very enjoyable.

I can forsee in the near future, a rating system on motorcycle jackets in addition to the "CE" rating. It would be based on the thermal barrier as to; how long could an unconscience person lie on an asphalt road in 110 degree temps without being cooked.

weather patterns are just that. patterns or averages. having been around for a few years, I remember very cold as well as very warm years. weather records will always be broken. we have too much useless drible coming at us via electronic means. ok enough of my party bandwagon. its summer, its hot. beats cold.

i can tell you how long it hurts to have 100 deg asphalt and gravel ground into your skin. would that help?  |

I keep an oven thermometer in the car. Granted the windows are up, but when I go out there after work its 160. The pavement is around 160 also. Just another day in Tucson. Odd how much of the country has been hotter than here lately. Still not buyin the globull warming.
It'll be winter soon and the globe will cool. Except for the lower half, those scamps.

Indeed... it's WEATHER. I remember the summer of 1980 in Wichita Falls, Texas... 32 straight days of temperatures in excess of 110... most of those well in excess ... up to 117. So I guess that was global warming... just a few years after they were talking about the next great freeze in the 70's. When we had a couple of winters not that long ago that were record breakers... "global warming" suddenly changed to "climate change." Of course it was still "man caused." I'm certainly not advocating that we shouldn't be good shepherds of the environment, but the whole "global warming" brouhaha is for the most part just a giant re-distributionist scam... especially in the international arena. Just look at the Kyoto Accord that calls for "rich" countries to make transfer payments to "developing" countries in the form of outright payments and the transfer of technology... for free of course. It's bullshit. |

And, you've got to remember glaciers have covered where I'm sitting at least twice, probably 3 times in the not too distant past. I doubt the drought in 1936 or the glaciers were caused by man. We just like to think we are that important. |

You didn't know that the 'dust bowl' was caused by man and his poor farming practices ??!! It must be true because there a recent documentary on PBS that said so.. PBS wouldn't lie to us.. They sure didn't show me anything to convince me though..
Weather patterns are weather patterns and probably always be just that.. Weather repeats itself in fairly evenly spaced cycles..
Prior to the 'little ice age' of the 13th century the average temps in europe were 8ºF higher than today.. And now we have the 'really really 'smart guys trying to tell us how bad life will be when the temp increases 1ºF.. Core samples show the earth was far warmer long ago and more polluted also..
But, are we in trouble ?? Yep, I think so.. Since the earths solar filter[ our magnetic field] had been declining so much over the past 300 years we are due for another polarity reversal sometime soon.. In fact, I guess we are over due for it..
So, is the earth getting warmer?? Maybe, maybe not.. All I know is that its easier to sweat than it is to shiver..

The loss of top soil was indeed man's doing. At least I think it was. But the drought and heat probably didn't have much to do with us. |

So, the deserts in the middle east were caused by global warming? Could it just possibley be the cyclic changes that the earth would be going through, regardless of the new climate religion? |

Oh, now I see, thanks.. I didn't realize that because contour plowing wasn't practiced in the early years is the reason we lost ALL our top soil.. Folks around here still don't contour plowing, for the most part.. I wonder why we have always had,and still have, top soil in this neck of the woods.. Huumm,, its a wonderment..
Sure, I'll agree that early farming practices weren't the best,, but,, no one knew any different then.. But,, no one will convince me that that caused the dust bowl..
