There's a 1999 Wing for sale locally.... family death and such causing the sale.

65K miles priced at $2200 supposedly... What do you guys think??

What should I look for if I go take a look?
Or should I just turn and run (while continuing to look for an 1800)??

1500 wings are fine machines, I'd look at it.  That is a good price.  Hoser

Never rode a 1500.  But the 1800 is head & shoulders above it, in every area except storage.  The capacity of the 1500 is bigger.  Still at that price if it doesn't need work you could ride a while and recover your money when you sell it.

$2200 is quite cheap for a '99 with 65k miles. That bike would bring twice that in this area.

Around here they are getting 5-6K for a 99 with 100,000 miles. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Thanks guys.

I've asked to view it.  Hopefully they let me have a look at it in the next day or two.

I'll keep you posted.

that is a steal for under 3 grand unless trashed which I doubt it will be.  5 years ago I was looking at 1994 wings with low 30K mileage going for near the same price as my 2001 Valkyrie I/S I bought for 8 grand with 14K miles on.    For a 1999 with higher mileage, that is a steal, go look at it.  You could ride it for a few years until you get that 1800 wing you might like at a good price and sell it easily for 3 grand, no loss for sure.

I drove the older wings and did not like how they cornered at low speeds scraping all that plastic underneath very easily just making a U-turn in the middle of the road.  My wife also prefers the back seat of my Valk I/S having more rear seat passenger room than the 1500cc wings have.  I liked the cruise control and felt that it had too much plastic upfront for protection and lack of windflowing around me (bad in hot weather), but did like the reverse gear.  The seat of my pants felt it was a tad slower than my VAlk I/S as well, but shifted somewhat smoother in my opinion.  It was also way too quiet and prefer the slight sound coming from my stock exhaust Valk.

Could be a Katrina bike that's been under water.....  Just saying.  That does seem pretty cheap.

I have a '91 1500 that I've had for years. I think it's a great bike, I've ridden mine all over the place. My wife and daughter love the back seat on my Wing. 2200 dollars is a steal for a 1500 Wing. Good luck with it. Let us know how it goes.

The Wing was a no-go.

It turned out to be a scam.

"Give us your info for shipping..." etc. etc. etc.  Even though it was supposed to be about 10 miles from me.

Oh well... the search goes on...

Don't know how much you plan to spend, but the 1800 is a sweet ride. Look around, you can find some 06's to 08's for good prices.
