Have just gone darkside.

Rear = Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/65R-16   95H   B

Front = Shinko 150/80R 17 SE890 JOURNEY

Would like to hear from those running this combo... Heck, I'd like to hear from anybody with an opinion.

Anybody know what the optimum tire pressure would be? Ride mostly solo and tip the scales at about 190lbs.

Thanks

My Falken Ziex wore fairly evenly with 35 PSI, with slightly more wear in the middle third of the tread.  Similar loading to yours.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I like great value extra strong.

But on a more serious note, I just put the falken on my bike and with pressure at 38 it felt a little loose to me. So I bumped it up to 42 and feels more solid. Im thinking about bring it down to 40 for awhile then back to 38 just to see the difference.

What about the front? Does having a CT change the recommended front pressure.

BTW, I use and recommend Members Mark brand TP from Sams. It's real soft.

I also recommend this marvel of modern living. -

I ran 32 lbs in mine until I got the tire broke in, then went up to 36. after a while I dropped the pressure 2 lbs every once in a while until it felt good. Ended up at 30 lbs. I have an  Interstate, and I weigh 250 (or more)

All ya'll keep on talkin bout butt wipe i WILL be sending everyone corn cobs.  2funny I have the Falken Ziex 512 H rated and keep it at 34 35 P S I. I gots the Shinko Journey S E 890 and run it 43 44 P S I on my I/S. This pressure combination seems to be working for me as i've drug my boots a time or three on the stock rider pegs.  coolsmiley I ride mostly solo these days and probably tip the scales at 230 235 and 6 FT 2 IN.  Roll Eyes The ONLY regimen i HAVE NOT had either tire in is RAIN.  Smiley In all the dry and the heat neither one even began to nibble at sliding out. Truth to tell-i'm as comfortable on these tires as i was on a General Altimax and the Metzler 880 i had up front. Hope this helps you a little bit.  laugh All jokin aside-try living in todays world WITHOUT yer favorite brand of backside cleaning paper.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Saw the thread title and wanted to say that I recommend Charmin.  But now I see you are talking about tire pressure.

I have the same Falken on my 99 IS, with a Dunlop D404 130/90-17 bias rear up front. I keep both at 39-41 PSI. Both have Dyna Beads for balance, and both look great at 19K+ miles on them. Confident in curves, good in the rain. The front tire sings a bit, but that's what the stereo is for...

Are all of you running the Falken Ziex (ZE-512 205/65R-16) in the 65 series? I wanted this tire in the 60 series and seams it's no longer made in that size?

I am running this tire on both of my bikes with about 24K so far.
I use it at 34 psi.
Its a Light Truck tire and cant be beat for mileage and straight line highway riding.
As Im not a peg dragger I cant really comment on it in twisties and whatnot.
But for straight line commuting.
The best in the wet Ive used in many years.
And it does rain here almost daily 9 months out of the year someplace.

Not easy to get not always in stock as nothing made here in the USofA uses it.

As you can see by todays total tires. 15 available
I screwed their count up by ordering 1 for the Valk last month.

  Yes my Falken is the 65 series. My General Altimax was a 60 series and my position while seated at a stop light has changed. Be a tad bit higher but i can still flat foot it easily. Being 6ft 2 inches tall with a 32 inch inseam has it's plus side.  coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.
