We met last evening at the Landmark Grill in Lewisville for eats and brotherhood (and sisterhood).  Good eats were definitely on the menu as comments from the group indicated the burgers were big and juicy.  My steamed broccoli, sauteed mushrooms and grilled chicken were good as well (yeah, it's a diet!).

16 in attendence (but some are camera shy so not all are shown)

We started the meeting with a 50/50, selling 66 tickets for a gross pot of $55. The lucky winner was Sidecar (Gary) and he won $27.00.  The balance restarted our treasury for future charity and expenses for wrench parties.

We discussed a lot of topics - upcoming rides, lengths of rides, ride leaders, etc.  I certainly appreciated all of the input and interest by the group and feel the participation from the meeting sets the tone for a great year for the club.

Here's what we discussed and decided:

1) September:  Our ride will be on Saturday, September 8th.  This will be a ride through Paris to Clarksville to the Red River County Stew Cook-Off.  http://redrivercoc.com/2011/08/29/09102011-red-river-county-stew-cook-off/ Daniel Meyer will be at the event, signing books and maybe leading tours through his store and the Old Victorian.  Those wishing to stick around can camp overnight at the Meyer estate or there are lodging accommodations in town.

Our ride leader will be Chuck (Houdini) and he has a great route planned, already pre-ridden and ready to go.

Saturday, September 22nd, Dave and Nora (Chauffeur and Chauffess) will be hosting a wrench party at their home in Mansfield.  More details later but mark it on your calendar.

2) Our October ride will be to Fredricksburg for the Texas Hill Country Ride.

The topic link and details for the ride are here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,38866.0.html

The Signup sheet is here: http://www.vrccdev.com/rally/texas-signup.htm

Out ground zero hotel is the Peach Tree Inn and Suites.  They are currently sold out but you may want to get on a waiting list.

3) November:  Our ride in November will be to Mary's Cafe in Strawn.  This westward ride is to go and eat the best chicken-fried steak in the state.  http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g56719-d1141351-r34566672-Mary_s_Cafe-Strawn_Texas.html  The ride will be led by Dr. Ron (Captain Speedo) and the tentative date is November 10th.

4) December:  Our ride in December will be all the way to Terrell for the Terrell Christmas Parade.  This takes place on December 8th and we will be riding as a group, then heading over for some good Mexican food in town.  Larry (Doc809) will be the official lead for this event.  You decorate your Valk in tinsel, lights, etc and we'll vote on the most "Christmasy" Valkyrie afterwards at the restaurant.  Winner will be..... the winner.

Also in December, we'll have a Chinese gift exchange at the monthly meeting.  Gifts must be $10 or less in value.

5) January:  The Polar (Solar) Bear Run is on January 1st.  Since we don't have a large contingent on this ride, we'll be joining another group as we head out for lunch and back.  No water involved this time.  Dave (Baron) will lead the ride and coordinate the groups.

Other rides we are looking at in 2013

- Meer's Store in Oklahoma
- Koffee Kup in Hico
- Vaughn's Catfish at Lake Bob Ray Sanders
- Wendy's Catfish on Lake Texhoma

Next meeting is September 11th - we need some recommendations on where to go!

Thanks!

Mark, I believe the date for the wrench party is on Saturday Sept. 22nd, if I'm not mistaken.   Smiley
