I bought a new tub of wheel bearing grease. I bought Valvoline Syn Power Synthetic



When I cracked the lid I was surprised at how it looked. It looks like brown muck. It almost looks frothy and like it has fibers in it. It doesn't have fibers its just stringy. It doesn't stick to anything very well. You can scoop some with your finger, pick it off with your other hand and put it all back in the tub?

Anyone ever use this stuff before? I think it's going back to Advance Auto.

Don't think I would use it.  I have had good luck with Bel-Ray.

Looks like swamp mud.I use good wheel bearing grease.140000 miles and still going.

Jeff: Check for the moly content. Moly is black and when it's in grease, it looks like the mud you have. I use Valvoline's Durablend (3% moly) which is a synthetic blend. It's an excellent product and I use it on my drive shaft at both ends. Although I have Bel Ray, I used it on the wheel splines once with no problems.

I don't think sticky-ness is a necessarily needed quality in good grease.

Staying put is, however.  The stringiness is a good quality.
