Last October I aquired an unloved, abused, and abandoned 1997 Valk. It was a rusty, corrodid mess, with a lot of missing, broken, and butchered pieces. My wife thought I had lost my mind; she said that maybe I should part it out and recoup a few bucks. I saw a project,....no a challenge to build a Bobber that was different from any other Valk I'd ever seen. There have beem quite a few inspirations on our "Cool Pix" section, and I took some inspiration from "EXCILE CYCLES".

I wanted to save as much money as I could by using good used parts, I bought some at swap meets, got a few from our VRCC members, and sold a few parts from that bike to pay for others.

I had to have the gas tank repaired twice; the second time because I dropped it while fooling with the petcock and no mounting screws. But it is now completed.

That is SUPER nice!  Great job!  I've always liked the bikes that Exile builds and I've often mused about how that style would look applied to a Valk.  It looks damn good!  Love the Sparto tail light too!  cooldude cooldude cooldude cooldude cooldude

The bars on the bike were on it. Have no idea who makes them. They are the same as Anvil's

George,

Great job! Just curious what kind of paint did you use on the chrome parts? I am assuming you had to scuff them up some before paint? That is a nice job and a perfect blend on the engine and exhaust in particular. It really pops I think.

I've never been a fan of the "bobber" look, but in looking at your creation, I realize it was because of the license plate/taillight being placed off to the side. Kinda took away from the lines of a good looking bike.

Yours, I like. The way you cut down the rear fender, nice straight lines, and the rear mounted lights, really looks streamlined.

Nice job!

The paint on the chrome parts is not paint at all. The parts were media blasted and powdercoated.

Powdercoating is a virtually destruction proof coating; as a matter of fact all Valks frames were powdercoated at the factory.

Nice job dude... I want one like that... a rescue... but I want mine to be a supercharged one.  And I can't afford one at all anyway.

That one is very cool.  I am glad you did it.

That's cool! Just shows what a versatile blank slate the Valk can be and what some outside the box creativity can accomplish.

Nice work.  Though I dislike all stretched/raked choppers I am a fan of Exile Cycles, and I think you followed their style pretty well.  (brushed metal and flat/satin black)

Is that an interstate tank?

Not an I/S tank, just a standard/tourer tank.
Removeing tank emblems and removeing shiny bits creates the illusion of a larger tank.

I had a larger (taller) friend of mine sat on it (also a Valk owner) and he truely seemed impressed with the ergonomics and the feel of the steering.

I cannot be a true critic of my own creation,....I'd be too biased.
