ok so when i hook up the vacuum gauges to my carb ports the center hose that goes to the pair valve does that hose get plugged off or left open during the adjustment of the carbs i put a golf tee in it and it ran smoother but is there suposed to be vacuum there or is that a sign of a bad pair valve ?

Are you saying that you have 6 vacuum lines connected to 6 intakes and 6 vacuum gauges and the engine runs smoother when you plug #3 or #4 vacuum line to the pair valve assembly ??
Your post says you're using more than one vacuum gauge,, but,, you mention only one center hose to the pair valve.. It sounds to me that you do not have the sync vacuum lines connected correctly..  I may very well be missing something from your post..

If your only removing the line from #3, you are losing vacuum from the other side. pluging the line would stop the vacuum leak, therefore the bike would run better. If you are using just a couple of guages, probably the best way to do it to keep from losing vacuum. cooldude

ok i didnt give enuf info here is the setup 6 gauges pingle petcock all hooked up and vac lines from cly 3 and 4 open start bike and there is vacuum at both lines going to the pair valves factory manual dosent say to plug them or leave them open during sync of course any vac leak will make it run ruff but is it normal to have vac pressure sucking into the valve ?

If every intake tap has a vacuum line going to a gauge,, then,, how is there vacuum being pulled on the pair valve lines[3 and4].. Seems to me like there is something wrong..
