Finally broke one of tabs on the centercover that holds the sidecover in place.....was able to salvage the tiny, tiny, teeny little nipple tab thingy and was wondering what is the current best / preferred method to secure it back in place? JB Weld? Super Glue? Tig Weld? Spearmint gum? OR?????? Again, not the slot on the sidecover but the protruding whatchamacallit on the centercover. TIA !

Is it the bottom flat nipple looking one? If it is I don't think glue will work. This pc, at least on mine, takes alot of pressure, just as much as the slotted tab. Just use the 2 remaining tabs and see how it holds. It might just wobble but doubt it would come off. My slotted one broke and I held it on with a band aid for 1200 miles with no problems and there were 40 mph winds.

Ive repaired a few, made a replacement tab out of thin metal same width in an L shape. After roughing up the inside of the center cover, used JB weld to attach the long side of the L to the inside of the center cover. This way you dont screw the paint and mine have held for a few years with no problem.

Mine was broke when I bought the bike. I just looked on ebay untill I found one. It was still alot cheaper than buying a new one from Direct Line or Bike Bandit.

Go to Wally World and get you some velcro(sp). Put one piece on the side cover and the other on your center cover. Been running mine like that for 2 to 3 years now. I had broke my center tab also. After having bought 3 or 4 of these things over the past couple of years for my bikes, I decided a while back that I am going to go the route that Master Blaster described. If care is taken you should be able to fabricate and attach a tab using JB Weld. As a side note, mine have always broken when the temperature is below 40 degrees...I don't know if it is coincidence or if they are a bit less flexible and more brittle when the temps are lower. At any rate, in my opinion this along with the Petcock and Interstate inner fairing attachment is one of the biggest "faux pas" Honda committed on these great bikes.

JB weld is good stuff. I also like Quick Steel, it sets in five minutes, and can be found at most hardware stores and Wal-mart. It stays where you put it instead of running off to the lowest point. I used Quick steel to fix my side cover tab. I made a tab out of thin alumnium, drilled some small holes in the alumnium for the Quick steel to grab hold of and put it together . After the Quick steel cured, I used my dremel tool to shape the repair. Worked great.

David Velcro worked fine for me, however, I went to Northern Supply (nationwide) and bought industrial velcro and it's a job to pull them apart....super strong stuff....been on there for years...
