I bought my '98 bike 12months ago with 15KMls and was so disappointed to discover noise that I assumed was coming from the gearbox. I have just joined this site recently, but if I had done so when I bought the touring masterpiece, I would have learned that it was tyre/road noise. I had done some research on the problem and tried to remedy it by using fully syntheitc 15W40 oil but to no avail.
I was touring in the West of Ireland this summer and realised that the noise completely disappeared when riding on very smooth surface. I now just live with the noise and am happy that the problem is not mechanical. My tyres are almost new so I'll ignore the noise for the moment.

What kind of tires do you have on the bike? Maybe play with the pressures to minimise the sound cooldude

Are you sure that you have "Venoms"??  I thought that the Venom was discontinued a year or so ago, that is discontinued as a radial tire.
