I have the alternative list of oil filters for our Valks, and am using the Super Tech.
Does anyone have a substitute for a 17.5 hp Kohler on a JD lawn tractor?

My john deere 455 will take any filter that will fit the valkyrie, but it is a yanmar diesel.

You could do like I do. When shopping in the automotive area, I find the cross reference book and check out to see if they actually have a filter to fit my Johnny Pop..... 99.9 % have 1 in stock.

Ken,
Do a Google search on "oil filter cross reference" and also just search the filter number from your owners manual. I found cheaper Purolater filters for my Lawn Boy zero turn. I think I used Purolator's cross reference page for my Lawn Boy. If you do enough digging, you can find about anything you want. Good Luck.

What did you find? I have the same delima, and have saved an old filter to take with me, but you could greatly simplify that process!
I'm running exactly the same engine. 17.5 Kohler on th JD tractor.

I HAVE THE SAME TRACTOR. . . You can use either a NAPA-21348, or frame 3614. I use the NAPA.
For the VALK, I use a Mobile 1, M1-110. You'll find a bunch of opinions on anything Valk related. The Mobile 1 has been a great filter for me.
