Front wheel bearings
«

I had new tires put on my 98 standard 2500 miles ago. My bike has 55000 miles on it. I lost a wheel bearing. I'm wondering if the axle is over torqued will that damage the bearing?

Nope, no chance of that as long as the parts are still there.
Pretty unusual for a bearing to go bad although some will contradict this statement.

The only mistake I can think of that could make a bearing go bad on the front is to leave out the spacer inside the wheel between the bearings. Like RickyD said if all the parts are there, I dont think the mechanic is at fault..........Bearings do go bad just because they are a part and parts fail.........Now, poor installation of a bearing is a huge contributing factor to early failure!

As, I think, are routine use of powerwashers.
