Marine speakers. If your looking to replace them with better ones polk audio 401 would be a good choice. I replaced my front speakers with the 501. I took my trunk off and have been thinking of ways to get rear speakers back on without the trunk. I added a rockford fosgate punch amp in the fairing and the sound quality is great. No problem hearing it at interstate speeds with a full face helmet.

The Pold Audio db501 will fit in the rear speaker pods/locations as well as the front. The db401 & db501 speakers are IDENTICAL in physical size and shape! db501 is rated for a few Hz lower frequency response range...
P.S. I wish I would have known that BEFORE I ordered then installed mine...

I've had great luck with Alpine speakers in 4 & 5 inch sizes, on the Valk and the Wing. Plastic cones, been wet many times, and I've never had to replace them yet. Even when driving the 4" ones with a 400 watt amp. Can't say that for OEM speakers (PAPER - what were they thinking?), for Blaupunkt, or Electrical Connection. I had to do some cutting front & rear, but I was able to install the 5" speakers in the 4" pods, on the wing. BIG upgrade in sound.

Also,
http://www.electricalconnection.com/wire-harnesses/hrns_speaker.htm
sells a trunk speaker wiring harness with fader at a very good price.
