My buddy asked for my help changing his air filter, no problem.
The seat lock wouldn't release. I know to push down on it as I have to do that on mine.
The key cylinder would not turn. I/we found a way to release the seat to do the filter change.
The lock mechanism will not turn at all. I traced the cable from the lock to the release and nothing is in a kink or bind.
Has anybody else experienced this at all???
I told him he's probably looking at a new seat lock mechanism or is there something we can do to remedy this?

cable probably needs  lubing or replacing. You might try disconnecting cable to make sure the lock will operate.

I had to spray my key cylinder with WD40 about 6 months ago as it was sticky and didn't want to move.

Or any good skunk pee, will work also.

I second that most likely the cable disassemble lube and assemble happens quite a bit mine has been twice now.

Same problem here, I had to take mine to Goldwings of East Tennessee to get it off a couple of weeks ago. the mechanism had broke where the cable attaches. they ordered a whole new mechanism. I'm going to keep it lubed this time.

Got the same problem last year. I simply replaced the cable and the problem was cured. Once you get to the cable, considering the work to get there, you might as well replace it. Not expensive, just a few bucks...

make sure the cable is properly in the clip on both ends. one at the lock the other on the frame.
