Stopped at the Honda dealer in town today. They are under new ownership. The manager said he was talking to the Honda rep. and that he said rumors are 2011 may see a new Valkyrie, he did say it wouldn't be a Rune but a Valk? We have heard this all before.

My dealer told me the reps hinted at new Valk a couple of years ago ... I keep telling myself that maybe it's on the design board but still being tweaked.  Still hoping!

Doubt it, they screwed up marketing the first one, why any different with a newer one?  Forget about an Interstate, competes with the Wing.  Only chance they might have is with a hotrod standard.  Besides, they abandoned the 1800 VTX also.  Unless the market shows an upturn in demand, they don't have a chance.

Gonna be tons of used HD to sell too for some time.

Was at the Honda dealer to on monday. Picked up some parts and made the comment I wished they were still making these bike and he said I was the second one who said that today. hmmmm anybody here go to Honda of Houston that day? Then went out to talk to the service guys about bringing in my honda generator for a load test, started talking about bikes, notice their sign about not working on bikes older than 10 years old. Asked them about the Valk being a 99' if they would turn me down if by chance I need them to do sumtin. They said no problem there. It for those that bring in the old one that have been sitting in the shed for years. Anyway back to the valk, again I made the comment that I would like to have one with the 1800 FI ect.. and not like the Rune. They said said something like they heard in 2 years they will bring them back and that could be why the quit making the VTX 1800. I'm not holding my breath and plan to keep riding the one I got.
Time will only tell.........

And the V-6 Acura auto-trans Gold Wing?  They usually mention that when blowing smoke about a new Valkyrie.
Heard a Harley guy tell someone Honda quit making Valks because they couldn't make any money on parts and repairs.

now that I believe....if they do make a new one it won't be as user friendly to work on...most of us seem to do all our own maintenance on our Valks.  I don't think that's as true for GoldWing owners.

I also heard this BS about a month ago. Dealer said the Honda rep was there the week before and said Honda will inroduce 20 new models by 2012 and that he hinted strong about a new Valk. I'll believe it when I'm sittin on one.  coolsmiley

As i get older, new don't mean as much to me as it used to. As well as these bikes last and are still going strong, i wonder if i would spend the money on a new one. But one just never knows until it happens.

I'll believe it when I see it too.
An updated, EFI, 6 speed, flat six powered Honda CRUISER {Not Goldwing} will be the only thing that gets me off my Valkyrie!
Although the ST1300 sure does look tempting!  Roll Eyes

I gotta say, before I got my valk I did kinda hope honda would come out with a new one, so I could pick it up new and not 10 years old, but as I put some miles on my baby, I don't know that I would want the new one.  I agree with some of those before me, new doesn't mean better, and it certainly doesn't mean that honda will put out the bike we want them to.  Love what you have, and if something better comes along deal with it then. Cool

Unfortunately, you are correct.  Honda has already made the decision as to what they are going to power with a flat 6.  I can't see them putting the same motor into an "old man's cruiser" for fear of destroying the panache of the evo.

That being the case...there's another new Honda which I won't be buying.

Last time I was in my favorite Honda shop, I was invited to ride a loaded K1300GT. I'm thinking about taking the salesman up on his offer, and putting Blondie on a matching 1300S - we'll trade off a few times during the course of the ride.

The choices have been narrowed down to 1400GTR vs K1300GT; ZX14 vs K1300S. I wish that Kawasaki had put a 1Kw alternator in the Connie, as BMW did with the 'GT. Shame on me for wanting enough extra lighting (and heated clothing) to be safe on rides in the cooler, darker portions of the riding season.

Honda...you missed again.

Can't make money???? Between rear spline failures, carb cleanings, and hydrolocking, I don't feel too sorry for Honda. This is damn good bike, better than most; but it's not perfect.

I agree with the general consensus on the EVO...it intrigued me at first, but I don't think it would interest me enough to buy it.  I really can't figure out the market they would be trying to appeal to with the EVO...the Moto GP crowd or the Sport Touring folks.  I've ridden my neighbors Ducati's and Aprilia's enough to feel that the EVO would not have much success competing against the Italians.

Just my $0.02 worth.....

And why do they call it EVO?  Seems to me HD had an EVO motor, or are they just stealing?
