Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum.
I have a 2000 Valk with 14k miles. Owned it since 2005. Been my escape and my smiles through divorce and major surgery. I'm 64 and live in lower Michigan. I haven't rode it since 2009 due to an increasing hip problem. I put it away with a little STABIL in the tank. It's alway stored in my polebarn during the winter.
Normally when I was riding it every year, I would take it out of storage, and it would run a little rough after first start, but would even out and run fantstic all summer.
Well, this spring I moved it up to my garage to detail it (a little dirty after not being on the road for a couple of years . . .). It typically ran rough after start but I managed to get it up to the garage. It sat there all summer.
Ok, winters coming and I decided to move it back to the polebarn for the cold season. Needed a new battery, I installed it and went ahead and started it. It needed full choke to start, and when I tried to back off the choke after it warmed up a bit, it stalled. Time after time it would stall after moving it off full choke. If I tried to advance the throttle (with it on full choke) it would stall. If you quickly gunned it, it would go to higher rpms. It just will not run off full choke. Any ideas?? After I get this probbie figgered out, it will be up for sale. Thanks, Roger

plugged slow jets...time for taking them off, cleaning the bowls and pilot circuits, and installing new slow jets. Based on my experience, don't bother trying to clean them or you will most likely be taking the carbs out a second time to replace them.
Also, might want to order the pilot o-rings and carb bowl screws from redeyetech on ebay. Inspect all vacuum lines, vacuum plugs, and intake o-rings while it is apart and replace as necessary.
This is classic plugged slow jet symptoms....good luck.

Stabil is only good for a few months. Leaving it set for long periods, would be better to run the gas out of the carbs before sitting. Also, ethanol will go bad faster than straight gas. Need to get things cleaned out, and put some fresh gas (nonethanol) and maybe some other gas stabilizer. I use seafoam in mine for winter storage. Sits continuous from Nov to March, and always starts great

you've got some good Valkyrie mechanics up in Michigan....I'm sure there are a few that would be glad to help you get the bike running right. Agree, gas with stabil is only good for a limited time....

No need to run carbs dry,..just drain them . There is a screw on carb body to do just that. Have a small container under bike to catch fuel , drain all six and close the screws back down.
