Hello all
I am new to the Valkyrie world, like a month old Smiley
I am having a problem with a 1999 Interstate.  Embarrassed
Got home today and shut it down, a couple of minutes later, I wanted to start it to ride it into the garage. Turned the key(all okay and normal), pushed the starting button and all electronics just went dead. When I turn the key off and on only a very dim oil light lights up and fades away, nothing else comes on.
Checked the battery terminals and they are nice and tight.

Any ideas???

Any help will be appreciated.

Make sure that you have enough battery voltage and amp.s first!  If you have a volt meter, check for at least 11 or 12 volts.  Then, If she still won't start, carefully connect your car battery to the bike battery (do not start the car!) and hit the starter button. If she fires right up, you MAY just have a low or shot battery.  It's still highly likely that you will still need to do the "starter button maintenance".

In the bottom right of this picture, be sure that this battery ground connection is nice , clean, and tight.  The bolt is steel into the aluminum engine block. 
Careful, it IS aluminum.

Hey guys I'm new to the site but I have a interstate and had some hydrolock issues please do not let your dealership tell you that you have to buy a $750.00 starter if you need one because this is false I've got company that you can buy them all day long for $175.00 shipped to you so please Anyone who reads this message please pass it along to everyone else cause like I said new to the site and still learning how to get around. It would be a great injustice to all to not spread this important news thank bradb! Feel free to contact me!

My bike did the same thing awhile back. Rode it 25 miles home from work everything fine. Hour later going to run to the store and it wouldn't turn over.   It was the battery had died. Jumped off car battery and ran alittle while, I killed it and it would not turn over. Battery had dropped a cell.

1.  Charge the battery with a charger.  If it's an OEM Yuasa, the charging time should be noted on the top of the battery.
2.  Measure battery voltage.  It should be 12V; if not, you have battery problems.
3.  Make sure battery connections are good.
4.  Start the bike.  If the engine doesn't crank quickly, boost the battery from a car (car engine off).  If the boost made the differnce, you have battery problems.  Remove jumper cables.
5.  Measure the voltage again with the bike engine revved to 1500 RPM.  It should be about 14V.  If it stays at 12V or drops below 12V, you either have an alternator problem or a discontinuity in the charging circuit.

First of all, I want to thank all that answered my post.
Appreciate you guys taking the time to help out.
Nothing like having new bike issues and not being familiar with the ins and outs of the bike. Shocked
It turns out that it was the battery.
I have had batteries go bad on me before but not the way this one did it, so it threw me off.
I am now using the battery from my VTX, same size and all, until I order a new Yuasa battery.

On another note, I supervalked my Interstate as soon as I go it since could not ride it right away without being registered plus some rainy weather.

I got to say that I LOVE THE LOOK!!!!!!!
Only rode it for about 20 miles and all I can say is that I am really impressed with it.
Now I can't wait for Saturday so I can go ride some more.  cooldude

That was MY first thought!!!!   The battery!!!

I remember years ago, on my CBX.......stopping into the Gas Station, just to buy a pack of smokes. (When I did smoke!  No longer, for many years)......

It ran fine when I pulled in there, but when I came back out.....NOTHING!!!   THAT is how fast a battery can turn on you!!!

Good thing I was close to home!  But....did you EVER try pushing a CBX three quarters of a mile.......UPHILL???     LOL!!!
