OK
I replaced the friction plates.  Got it back together.  Shifts beautifully.  Not a care in the world.

When I replaced the oil, they were out of Rotella.  So I bought my old stand by Pennzoil Synthetic 10W 30.  The lower part of the seal said "resource conserving".  It being synthetic, I figured that meant no dino product.
She shifts better than she ever has.  However when I get on it at about 3500 rpms the clutch starts slipping.
So here is the question.  Do the clutch plates need to be broken in?  Or does the Pennzoil have friction modifiers.  I do not want to start another oil thread.  I have read the container and it says nothing about modifiers.
This is my first wet clutch replacement.  I have done plenty on cars.
Looking for answers or suggestions.
Thanks
Robert

Resource conserving is what you DONT want the bottle of oil to say. There have been many of threads/discussions on this subject. Resource conserving eludes to the fact that Pennzoil has placed MOLY or other high count anti-friction agents in the oil.

the anti friction is supposed to give cars better gas mileage. Therefore being "resource conserving."

Sorry to say, but you need a different oil. Like ASAP. If your local store is out of the rotella synthetic, consider Mobil One 10-40w synthetic. Its an AWESOME oil....and is about $22 at walmart for 5qt bottle.

That resource conserving oil is DEFINITELY your problem. Consider a "car filter" oil filter too. I use a Purolater on mine.

Here's an oil filter cross reference guide....

Valks will use any filter in category "5"

Thanks Okie,

That was quick.  Sorry to say I missed those oil threads.  I read a thousand of them when I first got on the board way back.
I use a Phram filter on mine.  Again an old stand by product I've used for years.
I'll change the oil and see if I can find either of those.  I've used Rotella for years as well in the Valk.  But I should have went to another store but I was in such a hurry to get her back up and running.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the help.
I changed the oil and filter to Mobil1 10W 40.  I did notice the seal had nothing in the bottom half.  The bike still shifts great as I knew it would.  It still slips but not as much and not as bad.  I imagine it will continue to get better as the modifier is diluted and gets off the friction plates.

Thanks again.  Appreciate the help as always.
Ride safe

I know it will be a bit expensive but I'd run it for just a few hundred miles and change it again.
