I'm trying to install a less than 6 month old Ultimate seat on my I/S.  Everything seems to fit, but the latch won't catch and hold the front bracket.  My other seats work fine with the latch.  Anybody else have this problem with their Ultimate and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Yea, what ssober said.  I have Ultimates on both my Std & I/S.  When the rear of the seat is in place, the front just clicks into the latch with no effort.

Is this seat from a Standard or Tourer???

If it is it will NOT fit an IS properly due to the larger tank. I already went through this when I changed the tank on my standard to an IS tank. Luckily I had just bought the seats and Des from Ultimate did an exchange for a minor fee being mine is a custom seat with some options.

And to add to what everyone else has mentioned.  My Ultimate seat takes a bit more precision than before.  I have the Kennedy tech wiring harness for my gps under the battery box and then add the electronics for the mccruise control.  There is a lot of "stuff" that needs to fit just right for the seat to "click".  I don't know if you have any of this extra stuff on yours, but make sure all the intercom plugs are tucked away, too.  I found that to be a culprit a few times.  I also have a CB so that adds to the clutter also.

Best of luck... hope you get it figured out soon....

What rmrc said.  If you have a standard seat, putting on an IS, it will be a tight fit up against the tank with an Ultimate.  My Russell had a lower front, so up against an IS tank is OK. Ultimate had a raised nose, so tends to get against the tank more.
