Never went down, but my how the damage adds up.

Just parts: Rear section of rear fender - $782.30; Tail light assembly - $71.80; 2 - Turn signal assemblies at $47.40 each; Bottom half of trunk - $911.20.  And I will need another new tire.  Fender kind of pushed into it and cut a nice extra groove.

Total: $1860.10

I know there will be more.  Will see what adjuster says in next couple of days.

I think she was in more of a hurry than I was.

Bike was moving forward and all of a sudden, rapid acceleration.  I was thrown backwards, glad for back rest, when I moved to the rear of course my hand cracked the throttle open.  Managed to pull the clutch and get throttle back to normal, but bike was making horrible noises, but running OK.  Fender was pushed into tire and cutting it.  Sounded like just something rubbing on tire so I rode it up to next cross street and turned of major road and stopped.  As I shut off the bike, truck pulled up and stopped behind me.  Gal got out and said "I didn't hit you did I?"

At that point, I still did not realize that I had been hit.  However, after looking the bike over and checking out her truck it became obvious.  She had a 2002 Ford F150 and the grill looks like honeycomb.  There is a nice honeycomb pattern on my trunk, which makes it VERY obvious.  Apparently her bumper hit me lower down and got the fender.

And now, about 5 hours later, my back is starting to ache.

We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Glad you're ok Ray, at our age we tend to hurt more later, don't let that get away.

Glad you are OK and that the Valk can be repaired relatively easy.  Sounds like the pocket book may hurt worse than your back, though.

Two aspirins and a beer always seems to help my back...or is it two beers and an aspirin...anyway, good luck with the insurance adjuster!

Ouch!  Glad you are mostly ok.  It could have been much worse. Its hard to claim you didn't see one of our Valks, they are pretty big.  Especially when we are right in front of the vehicle.

I know how you feel Ray.  Smiley  First estimate was for $9300 and the bike was only worth $6500 to them of course.  Don't forget about those bag rails and other add ons that you have that are ultimately not replaceable.  Add these to the damage estimate.
AND, heed Disco's advice.  I was hit by another Valk, not a truck.  I had only a slight twitch in my back that was gone before I got home from Inzane.
it waiwasn't worse than it was and hope you ddon't find any serious injuries.

Ray, glad you are seemingly unhurt but sometimes it takes a few days for the hurt to set in.  Get clearance from your doctor!

The valk can be fixed and as was said, its parts are easier to find.

They ARE all trying to kill us!

First estimate $3,291.85

Almost enough to total it, and I can ride it.  (Not legally right now).  I tore out the wiring harness to the rear end.  No lights.

That's one studly looking luggage rack... Custom World, I think. I almost always ride set up for solo (just a solo
bar back there), but for longer or two up trips, I use a OEM rack mated to a Givi adapter, with a Givi trunk. Scott
told me he used to do the same thing, and his rack failed... the OEM racks don't seem so substantial...

Anywho... the HDL ad for the Custom World rack sez: Custom World luggage rack for the Valkyrie & Tourer factory sissy bar
fits 98 and up only.

Surely it will fit my 97?

Well, Liberty Mutual came by today and wrote an estimate for $127 more than Progressive.  Told the man I was happy with that.  He even commented on my running a car tire.  Told me his brother runs one on his Gold Wing.

Now, anyone have a spare Interstate trunk bottom they want to get rid of?

I think I might have the fender and lights covered already.

Mine expires in 2014.  I think the one you are referring to was an OLD picture Daniel Meyer posted of the rear of his bike when hit several years ago.

Hope you are feeling Ok!   Who would think to get hit while pulling away from a light from behind.
If there is anything I can help with, let me know.  I have a trailer too if needed to transport it somewhere.

Already fixing it.  Got a nice fender from Disco (Thanks), still looking for a black I/S lower trunk.  Have had a couple of offers but I would have to paint them.  I really don't want to have bike down to long.  Fender was from a Standard, got a different harness and got lights redone today on it.  Have already replaced tire.  Just need the trunk.

I pulled fender out from tire and rode it down to Pylllis' and have been working on it down there.

Thanks for offer Steve.

Looking for another item for my bike because of the accident.  Hidden damage discovered during tearing apart.

Needing a left side trunk light housing.  The one that has the running and stop lights.  Red lenses were just scraped but the inside housing was busted up pretty good.

Apparently I am also going to have to modify my CB mount or relocate the CB unit from under the trunk.  The stop light on the Standard fender comes up too high and hits on the CB rear mounting bracket.

Anyone who has done a similar mod who is willing to share wisdom would be appreciated.

If you don't hear from him, I think Stanley Steamer has done this...
