Had a problem yesterday, bike started and ran fine in nuetral, as soon as you put it in gear, it died. This happened 4-5 times, then it wouldn't die when you put it in gear but when you tried to drive it, it was like the key was turned on and off constantly. I have a couple of questions. The Clymer manual (sidestand switch test, page 330) says put one lead on the yellow/black wire and the other lead on the green wire. With the sidestand lowered, there should be continuity. OK. First question, with the sidestand UP, I assume there should be NO continuity? I have continuity in both positions Next question, if I want to bypass the switch for the 2-3 weeks it takes to get a new switch from HDL, would I jump the green wire with the green/white wire? I assume the yellow/black wire is for when the sidestand is down, is that correct? Or, am I assuming its the kickstand switch and it may be something else? Need help, I'm electrically impaired.   Thanks,  Gary

Below is pictures of my friends Interstate ....He did the " bypass " on the kick-stand switch. Took off with it down on US 129 The Dragon made the first right hander no problems then went into a little dog leg left and it hit the road. He was high-sided in a split second right into a speed limit sign then off the mountain into tree's....I know you did'nt ask this but....Buy a new switch and fix it correct.

Gary, you can get that switch from Service Honda in Indiana for just under $30. They're closer to you than HDL, good people to work with. Just ask them to check on availability when you order it, they can tell right then roughly how long it should take.

Well. I took the switch off of the kickstand, it was pretty bad looking with dirt, grime, grease, etc. Cleaned it good with spray cleaner, put dielectic grease on it, put it back together, everything runs fine for now.  I hope it just needed the cleaning and will see how long it lasts.  Thanks.
