I just finished the SuperValk conversion on my 2000 Interstate. I really like how it turned out and I love how it looks now! There is definitely a difference in handling without the extra weight of the trunk behind you. I made the trunk quick detachable so I can put it on when my wife rides with me. I do most of my riding one-up so this conversion is great for me. The saddlebags supply plenty of storage for normal usage and local riding. In doing the mod. I added an Ultimate seat, tail light, fender bib, and a low profile antenna (looks much better than the stock antenna IMO). I also added a set of truck stacks and Grumpy's tips which look Great!!

Thanks to everyone who contributed the information to this forum for this conversion, and thanks to those who supplied detailed pics and information on this topic. I would definitely recommend it for those who are on the fence about doing it to their bikes!

Here are some before and after pics....

cooldude cooldude  Im going for it to, as soon as I make the time. Someone posted that the trunk weighs 50+ lbs. I am going to also make a super luggage rack (quick mount) with some extra trunk mounts I aquired from a great member here Smiley

I say go ahead and do it! My only regret is that I should have done it sooner! It's really not that difficult to do and well worth it.  Smiley

Looks GREAT !!!  cooldude

I got my I/S a couple of months ago and since I ride solo, the first thing I did was to Supervalk it.
You are right, having the trunk off really makes a big difference in the handling.
I also did the quick set up for the trunk and just had to put it back on today, (daugther wants to go for a ride tomorrow) really glad I did it, saves a lot of time.

I really like the truck stacks with Grumpy's tips.

DO THEY CHANGE THE SOUND AT ALL??

Would really like to make that my next mod so any info you can provide will  be appreciated.

Keep the shiny side up and be safe.

I have the rear piggys removed on my OEM exhaust, but everything else is untouched. (I like to be able to hear my radio at highway speed). But I think the sound is a little deeper with the truck stacks versus the OEM tips. As far as the loudness of the volume, it stayed about the same. But I like the deeper tone better overall. I think the looks alone was a huge improvement over the OEM tips. I am very pleased with the result, so I would say go for it!  Smiley

Which quick detach did you do, the slotted trunk rails like Big BF or threaded fender rails?

Wow, this looks great!  Is there a write-up anywhere detailing this process, hows, where to get pieces, costs, etc.  I would really like to do it to mine also but am a bit mechanically challanged.

Just do a forum search on the topic of "SuperValk" and it will lead you to all the information needed to do the conversion. Nothing was really difficult in the process, just take your time and pay attention to the details.  Smiley

Its the only way to go.......

The handling is definitely better (at least Feels like it).... wind buffeting is greatly reduced and I think it makes it the best looking bike!!!!!!  Make sure you use the fader to turn up the front speakers and off the rears.......

I have the quick release slots on my rails also(did them a bit differently than BF, but they work)..... and put quick release plugs on all connections..... I also keep a 12 mm wrench in the trunk to make it quicker..... I have been on long trips and taken the trunk off for day trips during when we came back to the same spot..... a loaded trunk is alot of weight that you notice right away when its gone!

And it one of the cheapest mods you can do...... just need the taillight assembly and some plugs and time......

I highly recommend it!

Brad

I have a 2001 Valkyrie standard and am looking to do the conversion. Your bike looks great and it motivates me to "getter done" I been screwing around long enough. I was interested in the detachable seat for your 2nd. My wife rides probably once a year so I need to be prepared for that occasion.
Anything I can learn from your experience would be great.

Very nice!  coolsmiley Are you using a Mustang tank bib? It looks like the fender bib is Mustang.

The tank bib is actually made by Hopnel, but it matches the fender bib really close. They have the same braided design that goes around the borders of both of the bibs.

Do you have a standard or an Interstate model? As far as I know the SuperValk conversion is only done on the Interstate models that have the tour pack trunk on the rear. The trunk is made quick detachable and a new tail light is installed in the fender. I have the full Ultimate 4 piece seat set for my Valk, and the passenger seat just comes off and on with a couple of bolts if I want to ride with a passenger. I am also looking to fabricate a quick detachable passenger backrest for when I don't want to have the trunk on.  Smiley

That is the hard way to get to a SuperValk.

I agree. It would be similar to making a Fatboy into a Streetglide.  Smiley

You'd be better off putting an aftermarket fairing on the front of your standard, such as a Woody's fairing, rather than trying to SuperValk a standard with an IS fairing.

I can set my bike up solo.....my version of a SuperValk/Streetglide in just a few minutes.

I should probably take some pics and post them here soon.
