When I bought my Valk it had the Dyna 3000 CDI box. I have read that some have had problems with these...should I find a OEM on Ebay for a backup?

Mine was not working correctly and went back to the manufacturer for a full refund. I now have an Interstate ICM.

I have one friend who has had them in all his Valks and never had a single problem. The only Valk he has left has 75k on it and on the Dyna, no problems. I tried them twice, problems both times. I also got full refunds. Now I have a 6 degree trigger wheel, shimmed needles and Interstate springs and finally have it perfect. Your question...Couldn't hurt to have a spare. I would go with the Interstate ICM for your backup like Farther suggested.

I had an early one that failed... and they replaced it with a later model one. That one has been fault free. I keep it in a zip-lock.
I carry the stock one too though just in case...
I like it. Although I do have to run 91+ octane to keep it from spark knockin'.

More than that... I don't remember. I couldn't tell a difference on 3. 7 maybe? 5? I have not even looked at it in 7 or 8 years. Jabba

I had one also and had issues starting my bike. I got rid of it and went with the trigger wheel and I/S module.
