Thanks to Joe and the gang with him that came by this morning to check on my Interstate. We couldn't get it to start using the push start button after taking it all apart to check it. We decided to not start home not knowing what the problem is. A local Gold Winger came by the Travelodge Hotel with his GW battery which we hooked to the leads on my Interstate. It fired right up!!!  The battery in my bike is bad. There is an Advance Auto Parts Store a couple blocks down the street. They are charging a new battery for me now. It'll be ready at 4PM this afternoon. We're just gonna chill out here 'til morning and head out tomorrow morning.  Thanks again to everyone who helped last night checking it out and Joe and his entourage for coming by this morning.   Thanks to you too OSS, you're good for something after all !!!   See ya all down the road.

Thanks Melvin, picked up the new battery at 4PM and it's installed and running. Now, time for dinner and rest !!!  It has been a hot, gorgeous day here. And we spent it sitting on the hotel balcony watching all the bikes go by.  And there were hordes of them.

Sad Just hope it is not your ALT. going bad. As it won't keep the new battery up very long.

try the battery out of another bike. Maybe you could have been on your way home a little sooner.
Oh well, live and learn. I hope I remember this.

Thanks for the help everybody. We just got home, left Chambersburg at 9am. Got rained on 4 times from Roanoke, VA to Wytheville, VA---'bout 75 miles.  The Valk did great, 369 miles to the house. I assume by that the alternator is ok. (?) We'll see.  I plan to test it running with a voltmeter.

Thanks again troops !!!
