I have a National Cycle Large Switchblade windshield and today mounted the Memphis Shades Fork Lowers in an attempt to reduce some buffeting at speeds above 65mph.  I have the mounts pointing down as per the instructions and have tried mounting them with the fork tube clamp above the lower triple clamp (tips of the deflectors bisect the turn signals), just below the lower triple clamp, part way down the fork and down so low that they could possibly interfere with the fork action.

I've not found a position that noticeably reduces the buffeting and have left them in the last position I tried which is with the clamps above the lower triple clamps.

Where do you guys have the Fork Lowers positioned on a Valk Standard or Touring model?

I guess the next step is Baker Wings.

Thanks,

I have Memphis lowers with a Memphis shield on my Standard.
I played around with them a little and ended up with the top of lowers about 1 inch below bottom of shield. It's hard to tell (for me) if this is the optimum position.

Thanks,

My Switchblade shield does not extend down like the stock Tourer shield does (I don't know how far down the MS shield extends).  I have the lowers set so the blade angle is similar to the shield.  I think I've seen pics of Valks with the fork lower blades angled more aggresively so I might give thet a try.

Brackets pointed down, clamp at the top of the tube near the triple T bottom.  Work very well there.  Hoser

Thanks Hoser,

That was the first place I mounted them and it seemed to have little to no effect with the windshield I'm using.

I just flipped the brackets (now pointing up) which are now mounted below the lower triple clamps but allow me to raise the shields where the tip is just above the turn signal.  This gets them closer to the Switchblade windshield which doesn't extend down much.  No time for a test ride tonight but will try them Fri after work.

If no improvement I'll reposition and try again.  Maybe try to lower the Switchblade some.

Don't know about the Switchblade, but this is where I placed the MS Lowers with the MS Windshield and got rid of the buffeting that I was getting.
(Best pic I could come up with on short notice)

Thanks for the pic MacDragon!

That is where I moved them to last night.  It's about as high as they would go before the arms hit the lower triple clamp.  I might be able to force the arms out and raise them a little more but hope this won't be needed.  I'll test ride it this afternoon and see how it works.

The Switchblade shield only extends halfway down the headlight but it could be lowered a little more if needed.  There is a good sized gap above the headlight but some of this is needed when tilting the shield into it's quick release mount.

Didn't see much benefit until I angled the deflectors in like they were scooping air towards the radiator. I'll ride some more before making any more adjustments.
