I lost a saddlebag lid going down the freeway a couple months ago. (yes, I am a dumbass)

I have a replacement lid, and one OE Hondaline bag rack (to match the other side), but no hardware for the rack.

I have looked around and cannot find a directions/parts list for this part (like the PDF files in Shoptalk for luggage rack and bag rails).

I could take my other bag lid rack off to study it, but it is nicely sealed/waterproofed with RTV and has never leaked, and I'd rather not.

It looks like 8 (or 6) mm bolts of some length, with metal and rubber washers on each side of the lid.

Anybody save their directions.... which always included a nice parts list?

HDL punted, as they are no longer in stock.

Jess, I won't go there, just remember to latch the sucker shut next time.  Cheesy Some years ago, I was on my way home from Daytona and didn't notice until I pulled into the garage that the right side cover was gone on my Wing. I mentioned it to my wife and we jumped in the car and drove all the way back there...about 50 miles. I did a cross over at an intersection and retraced my route, suddenly the wife spotted it. It had blown off just after I crossed a bridge and all I could think of was how bad it was messed up. When I picked it up, it was laying in the grass....finished side up. Only a slight amount of the mounting protrusions were ground down, but the outside had absolutely no marks on it. Luck was on my side that day.

Well, I believe it was latched in back, but with the interstate, it is not hinged on the front, only clipped.

And the clip hardware on the front of that bag/lid had got a little twisted... and it popped off on a big freeway bump, the air got under it, and off she flew.  The bike came with the IS bag lid tethers unhooked, I suspect because the airbrush artwork on my bags could have been scratched by a bag lid slung over the side like they are designed to do.  So I never hooked them back up (that's the dumbass part).

I got robbed on a used left lid that has too much damage for me to sand and paint myself, and I had to find a single hondaline bag rack to match the other side, and need all new hardware front and back... so with paint shop repair, the whole deal will run over $600.  Needless to say, the new hardware includes all the tether parts so this can never happen again.

I lost the lid on the freeway.  Against my better judgment, I pulled off of three lanes of busy traffic and was sprinting down the breakdown lane about half way back to the lid on the edge of the road, when a soccer mom in a minivan ran it over.   It exploded.   Bless her heart.

Jess, the kids got transferred to Ft. Lauderdale so looks like there's no visiting up that way anymore. However, their son and new wife are employed in the area so they stayed near D.C.   So if a little one comes along then Great Grandma Rita might "need" to make a visit.  Wink

(yes, I am a dumbass)

It's getting to be a huge club...  Wink

I have an I/S trunk that I use when doing long trips.  Because of that, I installed I/S clip and latch, on my Champion Saddle Bags.  I run solo 90% of the time (no trunk).

A couple of weekends ago, my brother and I were out for a nice ride, on the back roads of SE Wisconsin.  We probably already had 60 - 70 miles behind us when we came up on a line of cars that were moving slower than we were, and when the chance was there, we twisted the wick, and did a 3 car pass...  Just about when the speedo indicated 85 - 90, I heard a clunk, and saw my brother dodge the right saddle bag lid, as it flew past his head.

Did a U'y about a mile down the road, and headed back to find it (as I'm turning, my smartazzed brother yells "That's gonna leave a mark!").  Took a while, but found the lid, on the other side of the road, maybe 20' in to the weeds...  Skarfed it up pretty good, but still solid, and not run over by other traffic...

Stuff happens  uglystupid2  I've got a chip in my Hoppe fairing that I was thinking of fixing, so guess I'll ad the lid to the painting list.

Just when the highway straightened out for a mile
And I was thinkin' I'd just cruise for a while
A fork in the road brought a new episode
Don't you know...

Conform, go crazy, or ride a motorcycle...

Well, just let me know if you come back up, and we'll do another hook up.

I won't be in FL anytime soon.  Was there many times with family thru Jr-Sr Hi and few times later.

If you come across a bike I can ride, let me know; I'll fly down and we can ride to Key West and watch the wildlife.  LOLOL

BlackDog, the IS lids definitely need to have the tethers attached, a bit of a PITA, but I cannot afford to be buying new lids, parts and paint.

On my other IS with the tethers, I have looked down several times and seen my lid has popped off and just hanging there (but no gear blew out).

They sell the lanyards and hardware.  I just bought complete for my new-to-me hard bags on my blue and white bike.
