I'm looking oat doing a seat mod for my 99IS.  Where would I look to purchase gel pads - at a reasonable price?
Thanks.

Just remember, gel retains heat in a big way.  Summer riding could be uncomfortable.

+1 - also turns into a brick when cold. I have a gel seat on a dualsport bike (Suzuki DR650), and I'd trade it for a stocker in a heartbeat.

this is the way to go, it's not a gel. I have over 30k miles on mine in all temps never a problem.

By using a dry, visco-elastic polymer, originally developed for the medical industry, the Butt Buffer, eliminates pressure points, promotes circulation and is guaranteed to improve your ride.

Some say a sheep skin is the way to go, especially during the cold months.

And the hot months too!

I used one of those when I built my custom seat 15 years ago.  Worked great!  Though the outfit that sold it to me stopped selling them so that source is gone.  See http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Rood_Saddle_Mod/rood_saddle_mod.html

I sold that seat as I got a great buy on a complete Mustang set - should have kept it, was a great seat.  Well the guy who got it, I'm sure his butt is happy.

Later I got an Ultimate Big Boy which I still have - put an Alaska Leather sheepskin on it for summer (hot) riding, or any distance.  Most of the time I use the wing for distance riding.  Butt's not happy though.  I'm fixin on getting a Russell if I keep the Wing.

I have good report with the Ultimate seats on street bikes. http://www.ultimateseats.ca/about.html
They are designed to fit for comfort of the rider and passenger alike according to the height and weight.

I'm still using the original LowRider http://www.ultimateseats.ca/stand_tourer.html on the standard and enjoy the back rest a lot.

I put the 4 piece BigBoy http://www.ultimateseats.ca/interstate.html#bigboy on the IS several years ago and it still holds its own being very comfortable to sit on.

The inseam and contour together make the biggest difference in comfort as they are designed to prevent the sliding around while moving and this adds to the comfort of both passenger and rider. It just adds to your day when its all over.  Cheesy
