Sure,, There are probably quite a few original sets that are in good shape that can purchased for an exorbitant cost.. If just the 'piggies' [ 3 tailpieces] have been cut off, they can be replaced in several ways.. If the baffles have been drilled,, there is not much of a fix that I'm aware of except for the first sentence.. What does the end of the 'muffler' look like ?? Are the tailpieces cut off ?? Are there 3 holes in the can or is there one great big gaping hole ?? Each one will give a different sound level..

If the piggies are gone and there are holes drilled in the spaces between, Or the baffles are drilled through the piggie's holes, then MarkT sells piggies on plates that you can weld over the rear of the can. You may get stock sound or at least the sound will be deadened considerably. Contact Mark at http://www.horseapple.com/Fred.

If you need ear plugs with piggy removal you probably would need them with the piggies in place. There is not that much exhaust noise increase in my experience although your expereince might be different.

thats what happened, the piggles have been cut off... guess i will learn to live with the sound.. there's always earplugs ....lol
You don't have to just live with it if it bothers you. As a few others suggested, take some pics and post them here. It would be better if you would take of the chrome extensions off and then take your pics. If your pigs have been cut, you can stick a coat hanger or welding rod into the hole and run it up into the exhaust. If you hit metal with about 8-10 inches or so, they haven't been drilled. Either way, take some pics and let us know what you've got to work with and suggestions can be made. Cures are available.

His piggie plates are very reasonable; I think he just wants to clean up his yard. There was a post about mounting the piggie plates without welding. It just takes a few screws and some muffler cement. Here is the link: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,38448.msg360322.html#msg360322

I have a completely unmolested exhaust system from my 03 standard to sell, and the back section of the mufflers (all but the front 2" including the piggies) that maybe of use to you. PM or email me if interested.

Picked up my '03 Valk a few weeks ago with just a touch over 10k miles on it--traded my '06 Kingpin for it, straight up, mainly to have more comfort for the 2 up riding I mostly do (I'd traded my Rocket 3 for the Kingpin 6 months earlier). Anyway, I thought the stock sound was a little tame, so I cut the 3 piggies to slightly deepen the sound. Minor change, but ok. Pulled both exhausts just to clean them up a bit, tightened everything to spec and all was good. Put a few hundred miles on it and on a short ride last night, I noticed it being particularly loud--not in a good way, in a straight pipe way. Read this thread and figured I'd recheck the torque on the head nuts--sure enough, most of the nuts were loose, not just on the left exhaust that I had removed, but on the right side, also. Retorqued them all and all is well in Valk land. My question is--just how often will I have to check these nuts out? After every ride? Or just when I've reinstalled the exhausts? I'm guessing the right side was loose because the bike has obviously not been ridden much--10k in almost 10 years should be a crime in most states...I don't want to put thread lock on the studs--I see some put anti seize on them. What's the scoop with the head nuts?

It seems as thought the baffles have been drilled.. When just the 'piggies' are removed the sound isn't really too loud..

[/quote if you replaced the gaskets it will take two or three times to get them tight.they are crush washers. just tighten slowly and gently, they break very easy.

Thanks, Sugarbear, that was what I needed to know. BTW, that blue/silver paint scheme is my favorite on an Interstate--nice ride!
