Have a problem with the seat lock.  Key will not turn it to unlock.  I got the seat off but want to know the best way to unfeeze the cable.

What should I take apart first?  What is the best way to repair it?

Does the key turn freely if the seat is already off?

If so, it is like my seat.  I have  to push down on the nose as I turn the key.

Been that way since 1997.

Too lazy to fix it.

I agree with RJ. When I use the sheepskin, I tuck it under the nose of the seat and have to push the nose down to unlock the seat. If that works for you, great.

If you need to replace the cable, I suppose you can get one from HDL Parts; but having removed the lock from the center cover when I installed the engine hanger covers I can tell you that it's a b*tch to get at unless you have very small hands.

I just oiled my cable and put a dab of grease where the latch contacts the seat.  Been working fine since then.
