How do you change The CDI box? I have a Dyna 3000 but ordered a OEM for backup...

Actually it unplugs from the bottom, underneath the unit, and there isn't much play down there at all. What I mean is that you will need to loosen if not remove the water bottle, very carefully so you don't break off the nipple in which can happen very easily. That's just to get your hands in there enough to grab a hold of the plug to remove the ECU.

I suggest swathing the insides of the plug holder (bottom part of the ECU) with a dialectic grease just to keep things fresh for later use when reassembling.   coolsmiley

as I recall, I pulled mine out... then unplugged it.

My memory sucks though...

I do remember it was not hard at all.

I unbolted the over flo tank and pulled the module out.  10mm bolts holds the tank on, I believe.

I went through several ICM removal/installs when I first got my Dyna and it help the first time to remove the coolant overflow container.  After the first time I was able to do the swap with the container in place.  It's probably wise to carry a back-up for the Dyna.

What I liked and miss most about the Dyna 3k was being able to set the rev limiter higher than the stock setting.  Grin

Well I wimped out...took the side cover off & bolt out of the tank & leaned it forward...still could not see how there would be enough room to pull the Dyna out of the boot...guess I'll just put the CDI I bought in my saddlebags & hope that it's a good one...sure wanted to test it tho....
