I have a 97 standard and the start switch not dependable so I purchased an OEM replacement. Any ideas on removing the throttle cable to install the new start, kill switch assembly?

If you're having the problem I think you're describing, you can loosen the risers and
slide your handlebars to the left and there will be plenty of slack in the throttle cables...

The handlebars will try really hard to swoop down and put a big dent in your tank as
soon as you loosen the last riser bolt, so put some thick layers of towels over your
tank or something to prevent that from happening...
