I'd like to hide them. I have a 99 IS. If you put them in the lower fairings how do you fasten them? Will they sound real muffled?

What kind of horns? I got a pair of horns out of a Dodge Caravan. From the local junk yard. Placement is under the bike, attached to cross members, down by the kickstand. Nothing muffled about them. Will launch unsuspecting passengers into earth orbit.

I think I'll try to get them both in one side. Minimize the wire/hardware. The way those two horns were mounted on those little steel scoops one each side was the most retarded setup I have seen from a factory. Too many brackets and bolts and wires strung across the crash bar...what the? They could have done better than that! Suggestions appreciated! thanks

I don't think that what you are describing is OEM. Look at BigBFs horns, if they are more than you want to spend, you could get some car horns and make your own bracket... horns that go BEEP instead of meepshould probably be wired with relays...

I also think what you have is not stock. Also I don't think the stock horns will be loud enough in the pods, if that is where you mean to mount them. I bought some cheap horns at HF and put them in the pods. They are nice and loud. Mine are chrome but you could paint them black and you would probably never know they are in there. I used the factory wire to trigger a relay to power them. Here is how I mounted them. I used the mounts that come with them and added another piece of strapping to stiffen them up. Had to do some figuring and bending and tweaking to get them lined up with the holes right.

Yes I agree this is not stock.. The wiring harness shows only one horn. There are two on my IS one on either side of the crash bar (hi/Lo). Theis explains the hokey hookup I removed.

Can you take some pics of your horns and post them here so we can see what you have? Depending on what you have, you might be better off just installing a Stebel.... http://www.stebel.it/stebel2012/products.asp?IDserie=14&uso=1&IDprodotto=53&tipologia=motoor a Wolo.... http://www.wolo-mfg.com/motorcycle.htm

Those look like replacements for the OEMs. At 105 decibels, those are probably just a step above meep meep horns. Just MHO, but you oughta think about something better.....and much LOUDER. Check out the BigBF's quad horns or the Stebel or the Wolo horns. A few friends have asked about my Stebel. It's actually scared everyone who's heard it. People actually jumped when I hit the horn button. Trust me when I say it's loud. The Stebel is an easy install. I made a bracket from some alum. flat bar stock I got at Lowe's.
