My cables have started sticking here lately. Idles @ between 1500-2000!! If I blip throttle a couple of times, she might come down to 1000. After 140,000, would like to replace them---just not now. Seriously considering hopping on my bike this Sunday morning, go to New Orleans and score a ticket to Saints vs. 49ers off the street(usually half price--done this before) So, no time to order cables! Anyways, I need a new air filter and was wondering how much further do I have to go to lube cables? Do I have to remove airbox?

Thanks, Radio
P.S. enjoyed Joe's FCR!!

I learned this "trick" here.

Loosen your riser clamps. Protect the gas tank with, like, four layers of towels or something,
the handle bars will try to drop down real fast when you loosen the last bolt and dent your
tank.

Slide the handlebars over to the left, then there will be plenty of slack in the cables to
loosen your handlebar throttle housing and slip the grip/throttle tube off. Then you can
easily take the cable ends out of the throttle tube. Put some kind of good lube in at
the bar end of the cables a tiny bit at a time. In a couple of minutes, the lube
will be coming out down at the motor. Then put it all back together...

i went one step farther. took the cables off the carb bank(easy to do). sprayed cleaner through the little red tube that comes with it(moving the cable as you you spray). when the cleaner was clear, i then sprayed the lube until it came out of the other end.
