I purchased a Golan petcock and plan to replace the OEM vaccuum operated one this weekend. With what do I plug the vaccuum opening at the other end of the tube that connected to the OEM petcock? Do auto parts stores sell something specific for the job?

All I could find at AutoZone and Advance were these little packets of assorted thin vinyl brightly
colored vacuum plugs. I put on the tightest ones that would fit and then put the next size on too.
I ordered the OEM plugs from Honda, but the "crummy" ones are still on there years later, they
seem still good. Even though they seem good, I still didn't trust them, so recently I cranked the
bike and sprayed wd40 on them, expecting that if they were leakers the rpms would change,
but they still seemed vacuum-tight.

People take an inch-long (or so) bit of vacuum hose with a bolt silicone-sealed in the end on there
and I bet that works great.

I’m not familiar with the Golan, but if your asking about the hose that runs from the petcock to the #6 carb intake, that’s what provides the vacuum for the OEM petcock.  If your replacing the petcock and don’t need the vacuum any longer, just plug the intake stub with a cap like the ones on #1 or #2, or make your own from the hose you remove with a piece about 1 ½” long and a screw in the end.

I have some good plugs on for now......However, if they wear out I will not be replacing them.  Its much better to remove the nipple (it unscrews) and go buy some little bolts and screw them in. Thats my plan since I dont really want to desmog it  cooldude

I wonder why this is not done more often instead of replacing the rotted plugs.  The only down side I can think of would be for syncing the carbs and then the original nipples could be re-installed and later replace by metric machine screws. Brass metric machine screws would work very well if a source could be located.

Found metric allen cap screws at the local menards ( big box hardware store) smeared then with a little permatex and screwed them in.  Pass the  carb cleaner leak test all day long.
