I have the opportunity to pick up a set of valk carbs for $100.  The price seems right but what will it cost to go through them and replace everything that needs replacing?  I would be looking to bring them to original specs like new if possible.  I looked on Honda Line and it appears that if the right parts have gone wrong, I might spend $100 or more per carb to rebuild them.  could this be or am I just not reading the parts page correctly?  Thanks in advance, G

You can buy a carb rebuild kit from Redeye tech he should have the kit for all six carbs for around 65.00 if you do it yourself.

Looks like a good investment if you are confident about doing the work.  If you never need the carbs yourself, I'm sure you could sell them at a profit to someone with a gummed up bike that has been sitting too long.  Or you could save them for another board member...   Smiley

The $65.00 is the correct cost to do the carbs,BUT I choose to r&r all 6 needle (float) valves as well. I located some for 15 dollars each or so dollars ,but was advised to go to Honda & get the better ones @ $30.00 each & I did.Juat elimated another "IF"......I'd gladly give $100.00 for them if nothing else to lay on the bench & practice rebuild with.

The cost depends on whether the carbs need things like new diaphragms, floats, and float valves.  If you have to replace these then your estimate of $100 per carb isn't far off.  These items are very expensive and add up to big $$ quickly.

If you're just replacing o-rings, fuel and drain tubing, and jets then $100-150 for the whole project should get you a nice spare carb bank.  This is about how much I've spent on my spare carbs but I chose to get the OEM drain tubing, fuel lines, and vent tubing and replaced all the JIS bolts with hex head bolts.

Good luck with your project.
