What'cha guys and gals think about this design?  I had a lot of help from our illustrious Norwegian member Dag in making the design.

Black text

Blue text

for our bumble bee brethren

My friend with the embroidery shop said if I deliver the logo in the correct format it would reduce costs; they don't have to do any design work.  They agreed to setup a webpage from their store so anyone interested can order directly from them cutting out any middleman.  Changing colors of the text will not raise the cost since the thread count doesn't change but adding a background color, like the yellow example, will cost more since it uses more thread.

They can print on shirts also so we can order those if there is any interest.  I have not asked for prices yet since I don't know if ya'll like the design enough to buy them.

So... what do ya’ll think?  Should I ask for a quote on embroidery and shirts?

I like them, I would buy. If you get a price quote, Price up to a 5x shirt. So many people forget about us big guys. Most of our rides in the area is max 3x. My Fiance wears them around the house as sleep shirt she wears an xl in T shirt. lol

I guess I don't care for the design.  It looks like we ride the Viking motorcycle.  And it reminds me of Lamar High School's mascot and logo.

Sorry.

Mark, have you ever seen the 'official' VRCC logo?  I was trying to keep a common theme without infringing on the VRCC copyright.

The Norse Valkyrie was a WOMAN!    Grin

Heres what this website had to say:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyrie

Valkyrie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
For other uses, see Valkyrie (disambiguation).

The Ride of the Valkyrs (1909) by John Charles DollmanIn Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja, meaning "chooser of the slain"[1]) is one of a host of female figures who decide among those who die in battle. After their death, the valkyries bring these chosen warriors to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. In Valhalla the deceased warriors become einherjar (In Norse mythology, the einherjar (Old Norse "lone fighters"[1]) are those that have died in battle and are brought to Valhalla by valkyries.). There, when the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans.

The Old English cognate terms wælcyrge and wælcyrie appear in several Old English manuscripts, and scholars have explored whether the terms are derived through Norse influence, or an indigenous tradition from Anglo-Saxon paganism. Archaeological finds have been theorized as depicting valkyries, including silver pendants of females bearing drinking horns.

I don't like the official logo either.  But it's all opinion and everyone has one.  I like the idea of the motorcycle itself, a dragon or the f6 engine as the centerpiece of a logo for Valkyrie Riders.

This is not a condemnation of your work and efforts - as you see in this thread, others think it's great and I appreciate your initiative.  I was just putting in my vote.

I'm good for at least 3. 4 if I can get one for the grand daughter.  She just got her first helmet so we can cruise the hood. She'll be three tomorrow. We're pretty tight you know.

Well... Dag obviously has more talent than I do with photo manipulation.

If I was designing the graphic just for myself my first choice would have been a dragon.  I'll be contacting the shop tomorrow for quotes on shirts and embroidery.

Hey Dag, why don't you offer your shirt design through your Cafepress store; my friend with the shop is busy and I am low priority since she isn't going to make much money off of me.

One of the things I hope to do at InZane IX is to talk with Oz and Sharon about the F6Rider Store.

Not sure if it's the same conversation, but Mike Peterson (WinterHawk) had worked a deal for tshirts, flags and patches and Al Lamb invested about $2000 into the venture for the club and I think a lot of it was left when WinterHawk disappeared. I just don't know.  I think it may have been through the F6Rider Store, but if not, I'm sure Oz would know about it since it used the VRCC logos and maybe we could retrieve it or at least offer it for sale to members.

Just more stuff for your presidential portfolio.  cooldude

Maybe if the Viking head were actually a Valkyrie head - like that found on the tank emblem - it would be more appealing to me.

Those Valkyrie maidens were pretty tough, but I don't think they had big mustaches! Shocked

My Hildr is pretty girley and I don't care how much Seafoam I ran through her carbs she'd probably never quit sputtering and spitting if I wore a shirt depicting her as a guy! Kiss

I have an artist buddy whom I am trying to work a deal for a Valkyrie drawing, maybe with a dragon at her feet or something.  If I can reach a reasonable price with him we will have the best design of all the Valk clubs.

On the down side I will have to raise the shirt price some to try and recoup the cost of paying the artist.

I guess I could have him start with my original Viking head art and just replace it with a female head.

When I approached 0z to use the VRCC logos I was told to go to the store and order what I wanted; there is nothing TX related in the store.  That is what started me down the path to create something unique for us.  I have scoured the Internet looking for a cool Valkyrie or female Viking head or pic and I have come up short.

OK, sticking my head out again.  I talked to Oz last year at Inzane about providing patches for his store.  He said to get with him after Inzane.  Have sent him emails and have had no response back.  I too will try to get with him at this Inzane again.  Willing to work together with anyone else on this.  Both for Texas patches and the regular Valkyrie patches that seem to no longer be available.  I have embroiderer contacts I work with on a regular basis.  I am not a 'red-headed step-child' to my embroiderer.  Would like to get with any others, and Oz, at Inzane and try to work something out.

I am even willing to foot the initial production costs so that we can have an initial supply.

So, there is my offer.

just my 2 cents, because, since we're in a ministry, we can't wear the VRCC patch anyway, but, Lemon Drop is correct, Valkyries were women, I know lots of use guys wouldnt wear the patch because of that, why not just a dragon?

I have no problem wearing a shirt with a pic of a woman on it; she wouldn't threaten me in any way.  When I started working on a design I spent days looking for a Valkyrie graphic on the Internet, the ones I found worth having were too detailed for a shirt or embroiderer.  I finally gave up and went and got the Viking pic, they are everywhere on the 'net and they are free.

If I can get a custom pic made it will be of a Viking-ish woman and a dragon also, if I can afford it.  I can't see dropping tons of money to the artist to sell a dozen shirts and patches.  Maybe I'll make it state neutral so I can sell them to all Valkyrie riders.

I have black and gray hair.  I can also get patches and shirts made incredibly cheap by doing all of the fab work so all they do is shove a memory stick into their computer and hit print or sew, no production costs and the savings is passed on.  I helped get their company started by landing some very large contracts for them allowing them to buy their equipment.  I don't mind paying the extra for your cut though as long as we can get something made.

Just carrying the "football".  But seriously, if you can shed any light on that situation, I'm all ears.  I believe I know what happened to everything except whatever inventory may still exist.

I'm told by Ghillie, there are no patches at all in the store.  I believe this gives the collective us a stronger position from which to find a mutually beneficial solution.

Has anyone called Al's and inquired?

I have not, but am told that the extent of Al's participation in the acquisition of Valkyrie-related merchandise was writing a $3,000.00 check.  The merchandise was not inventoried at Al's.

I've had a similar experience with OZ regarding a merchandise idea I had last fall.  Let's look for each other there an coordinate.  I'll message you my cell.

Hi all

All the European chapters have made their own patches. Some use the original VRCC logo others have redesigned the VRCC logo and some have made their own. When I made the 2009 calendar I emailed oZ and got his permission to use the VRCC logo.

I have one comment regarding the wings used on the samples here. It looks much like the VOIA logo.

Yet I think a bigger outline of Texas with the dragon in the middle of it (hanging over?) and the text outside the state outline.

Just a thought.  Everyone has different ways of visualizing things.

I'd prefer a shirt, I'm not much of a patch wearer.  Moving the text out of the graphic may make it cheaper to print but there are alot of colors in that graphic.

If screen printing would have to be a 4 color process to get the subtle shadings right.  And, if you put it on a dark shirt it would have to have a white mask under it.  Could make for what we used to call a 'bullet proof' shirt the print is so heavy.  Those heavy prints do not 'breath' and can become very hot.
