Has anyone visited there?
I just printed out tickets for Tues. July 21st to see Journey with Heart as special guest.

Nickster and I also have tickets Mon. the 20th for the Rockies and Diamond Backs at Coors field.

We do not get anything like this up here. Might as well make the best of this vacation.  Smiley

I've seen a lot of televised concerts that were based out of Red Rocks.
I do believe at home I have a tape of Blues Traveler playing out there. Scenic. I've always heard that it sounds marvelous! Enjoy Heart.

Al, this is one of the most incredible places I have ever visited.  I consider this place one of the wonders of the earth, you will remember this place the rest of your life.  Plan to spend a couple of hours looking around the grounds and learning about the history of Red Rocks....it is fascinating.

As a side note, I got a bit of a chuckle from that photo you posted.  It was June 22 and you guys looked like you were about to ride through some pretty chilly weather!

Red Rocks has become the standard that other venues aspire to:

"After Pollstar magazine awarded Red Rocks the honor of best small outdoor venue for the 11th time, the leading concert industry magazine decided to name the nationally coveted honor the Red Rocks Award--and remove Red Rocks from the running."  - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rocks_Amphitheatre

I saw Paul Simon there, shortly after he came out with "Graceland" - from 9th row center.  Still probably the best concert I've ever seen - and I used to live in Las Vegas, saw a LOT of concerts - and to this day I won't go to a concert unless I can get a connection to great seats (Recently, Joe Cocker, 4th row center, but then I'm acquainted with Pam & Joe personally, we stayed as their houseguests in Crawford & they got the seats for me.  That's really unusual & name dropping, I don't know anybody else, tho I met Jonny Lang once.)  In Vegas back in the 70's I attended a lot of concerts but missed them too - back then I and most of the people around me were ripped on weed or the like.  Seals & Crofts, Fleetwood Mac, Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y... You'd catch a buzz just breathing the air...

Red Rocks is an amazing experience - you won't forget it.

It's an awesome place for a concert. The wife and I saw Crosby, Stills and Nash there in 1976.

Fantastic place for a concert.  Arrive early just to hang around as people arrive, find out about the geography, construction, etc.  I saw Linda Ronstadt there in 1977.  She was at her peak then.
