Looking for some info for a friend who wants to get someone a gift.  They have an Intersate with an OEM FM Radio but no CB but they want a CB for intercom use.  What do they need to get to make it all work.  I know they will need an antenna and the CB module, but I'm not sure what else.  What other options are available?  I've heard the Yamaha CB works with some modification.  Thoughts or idears?

Hey Thag,

For rider to rider coms, you do not need the CB.  That feature is built into the radio.  If it is bike-to-bike coms he is looking for, then yeah, CB is needed.  Mike Terry (Valk Bling & More) has them.  You can find them in the classified every once and a while...Ebay has them as well...and you can also use one from the Yamaha Venture...but that one has to be mounted in the battery box.  So...what you need for the CB is the antenna, antenna mount, and CB radio.  All connectors are on the IS already.

I'll have to check to see what purpose they want the CB for.  If its just for coms, what would they need to get that to work?  I would assume there would be plugs for the helmet dongle wiring?

Right...they would need headsets.  The plug for the driver is usually attached to the fairing.  The passenger plug comes from until the seat...but I am not sure if it is a standard thing.  (I think it is...but not sure.)

They would hit the V-Mode button on the radio once...and then increase the volume until they hear each other.  Remind them that the intercom is live all the time...those innocent comments made in one's own helmet would be heard by the other.  Cheesy

Yes, the standard mounting is for the plugs to be:  Front seater- left side of the fairing, right next to the tach.  Back seater- on the fender rail, left side, just below back seat.
Enough of your Dallas guys use those, that they can help your friend figure it out.  The intercom will work in any mode of the radio, except completely off.  When I want my radio on, but don't want to hear myself singing, I turn the intercom volume down to zero.  That effectively turns it off.  Then when I have a passenger, I turn the volume back up.

"those innocent comments"

Maybe that's why I never put the headsets in the wife's helmenent...  Smiley  j/k...

There is a smooth spot on the left side of the faring just for mounting the bracket that the cord snaps into.  It's a small rectangle.
