Looking to upgrade seats after this weekends butt numbing experience.  Way to many hours sitting in the saddle with few miles and my back is locked up from the experience.   Cry

Looking at options and I already have an Utopia backrest that came with the bike.

So I've seen a few used Mustangs in the 300-350 range on average.  The new Ultimate King BB is 395, so about 50 bucks difference between a used Mustang and a new Ultimate.  Just wondering for any first hand experiences with either or both to help make an informed decision.  (Just found a note that the Ultimate is 20% off thru January so it's actually cheaper than the used Mustang.)

Also, anyone in the Houston area have one they would mind me testing out before dropping the cash on one?

I have an Ultimate King Boy on my Interstate that I sat on while completing my Iron Butt ride a couple of years ago.  I've heard very good reports on the Russell Day Long, but I'm glad I have the Ultimate King Boy. cooldude

Have a mustang on my Tourer and Ultimate Big Boy on the Interstate. No comparison - the mustang feels like a rock vs the Ultimate. Rode my Iron Butt on the Ultimate, too.

What he said.  I had a Mustang seat on my old bike, and when my Valk came with an Ultimate, the difference was night and day.  But, it really depends on your own body....I have never felt that Corbin was all that comfortable, but others who own them would not trade them for the world.

I have the Ultimate Big Boy and I really like it better than the stock seat I had before.  I rode 70k on the stock seat and wish I had bought the Ultimate much sooner.

Just as an endorsement of the level of customer service you can expect from Ultimate... here:

My experience with them was just the opposite.  My Valk came with a low boy and I made multiple attempts to speak with the owner about options and after leaving three messages with the secretary I realized that their customer service sucked and I wasn't getting a call back.

My 2ยข about the Mustang and Ultimate are they are both hard as bricks if you don't have a padded butt.  I found the Airhawk seat pad on the stock seat was the best fit for me.  I highly recommend the Airhawk, if you buy a Mustang or Ultimate and find they are not right for you then throw the Airhawk on it and "VIOLA"* it is comfortable.  I liked my Airhawk so much I bought a second one for my passenger and we can ride six and eight hour days in comfort.  For a measly $120 you can make any seat, including the Ultimate, comfortable.

Houdini's experience with Des at Ultimate is the only time I've heard of issues with Customer Service.  I had a couple of questions and received fast responses.  When I was at Inzane, I saw Des and thanked him.  He asked to see the seat and did a little maintenence on it while I watched.  So, 5 stars from me.

I did ride the Mustang seat from Durango, Colorado to Arlington when I bought the Tourer and swore I'd never sit on one again.

I do have a sheepskin and an airhawk for the Ultimate seat now, but that's because I'm getting soft.....

Boy, I would take you up on that in a heartbeat....

However, I put a deposit down with Mark at Diamond Seats yesterday so I'm locked in there now.  Don't want to ride an Ultimate and have buyers remorse...lol.  Actually, I'm thinking the Diamond will be great.

I am looking on the ultimate web site and they have a 20% winter sale. I still have my own seat and like what I have read about the Big Boy and think $700 for a complete set is a deal. does Ultamate have these sales each year? How can I determine my sissy bar model for completing a order o line?

Regardless of the sale, I would strongly recommend you not buy any seat until you've put several hours on it on your bike, with your bike set up like you normally ride it, and while wearing the pants/boots you normally ride with.

Houdini is not the only one with a bad experience.
