Been there many times, but I don't stay there.... I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and it's an enjoyable ride to and fro.

I'm sure there are many place to stay in or about the area, but you don't have to stay right in town.  There are campgrounds out that way, but I don't recall their names or know much about em.

Mellowyellow, If you go to the web site,on the front page on left ,click on camping. There are 13  campgrounds in the area ,with info. on there.    Also, there is The Greenhouse Park, where they have the abate welcome party,I'm almost sure they still have camping there. That would be really close to the downtown area and all the action. This is where the flight 93 memorial guided ride starts, try to make that.  This rally draws around 250 thousand,so motels are hard to find ,but camping should not be a problem!   Check out the web site , lot going on, cooldude hope to see you there.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  http://www.visitjohnstownpa.com/thunderinthevalley

I'm hoping to make this event, but with things the way they are and some issues we are dealing with my step-daughter, it's not looking so good.  If I go, it would be a last minute head out the door kind of thing.  Good thing I live close.

I think Dino has talked me in to this one. It's a day trip for us here in Jimmy Stewart country, so that should be a nice mix of enjoy the weekend and study the weekend.

I'm really looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but good things about it, but that has been mostly from Dino.  Grin I'd heard about this rally before I moved up here and it sounded like fun, just never knew much about it besides the name. Can't wait.

I`ll be there, this will be my fourth year at this rally, but the first time riding the I/S Valk. It`s a great time, lots to see and do! It is fairly close to where flight 93 crashed, a sad place to visit but inspirational at the same time. On Saturday night we leave Johnstown (we have seven bikes going this year) and go to a place they call "The Park". There are a few vendors and ABATE holds biker games. There is also a wet tee shirt contest around 10:30 or 11:00 pm that is a real hoot. (Or is that hooter). However, I only go there to look at the bikes! angel

Thunder in the Valley is a great home town type of rally.  Trap and I used to go every year when I lived in PA.  If you get there early, you can get a nice spot in the shade.
