My baby took a hit tonight! Well actually she hit the side of an SUV. I turned off of 15th street onto Alma going north and this cager woman pulls out of the parking lot turning left in front of me, I'm thinking "GOGOGO DON'T STOP!" and the stupid person stops dead center in my lane, of coarse I'm grabbing brakes and clutch as I'm thinking "DON'T STOP!" then as I'm not quite stopped I hit her thinking "F#!K SHE STOPPED".

So "Nationwide is on HER side!" and has to pay for a front fender + crome rail, right mirror, engine guard left side, cobra pipe (dinged and scratched on the left side) and that's all I could see. I hope nothing else got damaged, it didn't look like it. Of coarse she first asked if  I had my lights on saying she looked and I wan't there, then after two witnesses gave there statements that matched mine she proceeds to argue with the officer when she was told she was totally at fault. THANK GOD for good citizens stopping to report what they saw!

P.S. I'm not hurt, hip might be sore tomorrow, but so far I'm not hurting.

Can't think of any reason that stopping across a lane wouldn't end up being her fault, even if you were in full stealth mode.  I hate seeing people do that, whether there's someone coming or not.

Glad you're OK (for now).  Don't sign anything till you're SURE there's nothing else they should be responsible for.

+1.  And, go to the doctor and get checked out.  Then, at the first hint of anything not going your way, consider an attorney.

What ^ said plus make double sure the forks aren't bent. They are pretty fragile in a front end hit.

thanks for the advice guys, I'm still mostly without pain. My left hip is  a little sore though.

Yeah, I'm a  little concerned about the front end, hopefully I got it slowed down enough that the only damage is the fender. but as long as they don't come up with a reason to total it and it gets fixed I don't really care what they have to pay for.

perhaps it was dark out and that is why she asked about the lights?  [not meant to be supportive of evil left turners]  i agree with you that vehicles should not proceed until they can clear all lanes of traffic without having to stop and block a lane.

yeah, it was dark, I'm thinking if I come out ahead at all I need to add highway lights. The more lights the better.

couldn't hurt, i guess.  most drivers are expecting two headlights at night to indicate a vehicle coming their way.  easy (just like boat lights in a harbor) for our single headlight (or close set lights) to get lost in the background lights that clutter an urban environment.

Glad you are ok.

I have been told that my Interstate looks like a freight train coming down the road with the dual headlights and the pod lights blaring.  The triangle of light gives the other drivers a way to gauge your distance from them.  It seems to work for me.

It costs more and I have to replace them more often, but I use Sylvania Silver Stars in all 4 bulbs.  Just my $.018759.  Smiley

That's why I use HID's in the low and hi beams on the Wing. Then when people flash me or make a comment about how bright they are I just...
smile  Roll Eyes

BUT when I pull up behind someone at night I have the lows on and the main beam of light adjusted a bit down out of courtesy.

Now I need to get the same color HID's for the fogs

Hope all is good there B1B

For those who can't find/afford pod lights:

I mounted those outside my pods, but I'm sure that you could find a good mounting point on the engine guards, if you don't have pods.

yeah, thanks, I guess I could use some chrome P clamps to mount them to the engine guards. it would be nice if I could mount them on the front of the timing belt cover like they are on the Wing.
