First of all Happy New Year to all!
May you all ride safe in the upcoming year!

Is there a list somewhere of interchangeable parts from Goldwings that would fit our Valks?
We have a good sized cycle salvage yard here in town and it would be good to know what could be interchangeable.

The entire motors lower end is interchangeable (from 1998-2000 and you'd have the GW's reverse).
There are so many fasteners that are one in the same that it would make your head spin.

It should be, as the Interstates shipped to Japan all have the reverse gear (or so I've read in some magazine reviews). They removed it to save the twenty pounds weight for NA and European bikes.

Yes somebody has done that. There is a VRCC member up here that has a Valkyrie with such mods.
I do not have detailed information but, as Momz mentioned, some parts of the Goldwing engine are swapped to the Valk one.
It works well.

We need to find the info on this guy?  IIRC the reverse gear on GW's are electric?  There was something critical about doing the surgery on a US Valk that kept everyone from doing it.
He purchased it as is Mase. He doesn't know how to do it (he does not wrench very much). However the previous owner told him that he simply swapped parts from a Goldwing. A while back, I had examined parts fiche from both bikes and realized that it should not be something too difficult to do if someone wanted to do it.

I am interested for  reverse capability on my sidecar bike!  1997 Standard. Always wondered why it was not an option on U.S. Valks.  Smiley

Well any info that you have you should start a new thread that we can build on to solve the mystery.  I for one would love to see what it takes and the cost.  If it is something that isn't too bad it would make and awesome "How To" page.
I'll contact him and see what kind of information he can give me to get this started.

1500 wing pinion cup and the splines from the ring gear in the final drive. And some other assorted
parts in the final drive.

According to some recent threads; the rear air shocks from a GL1500 will fit and work (with a little grinding), the two barrel carbs and manifold should work (but why try?), valve covers are interchangeable and afford some interesting powder coating options. Alternators, cables and batteries. Drive shafts and u-joints, though reportedly not as strong. I would think exhaust, headers at least, should fit (Hmmmm...idea for cheap glass pack mod).
Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this (especially the exhaust, that was a blinding flare of future possibilities Cheesy).

I think the headers are covered by shrouds, and ugly if exposed. Still... I like quiet, and sometimes
imagine trying to install 1500 wing exhausts... I bet they'd could be got cheap on eBay... maybe
MarkT, or some other craftsman could join chrome valkyrie headers to quiet wing cans... but that would
be an expensive experiment...

this site and there are a few others that list all honda bikes that use the same part once a part is picked to check on. The link is for the valkyrie idle mixture screw and one can see how many other bikes use it.

i know this topic os a bit old but  i put goldwing shocks on my bike this spring(50 bucks for the pair plus 15 bucks for a seal for the air side) did not need to grind anything for them to fit and the old gurl rides a ton better especially 2 up running around 40 psi in the air shock.just an fyi.... and maybe this winter ill tackle install of the compressor would be nice not to have to carry one around anymore.
